Chance me for Ivies

Hello, I'm a US national and dual-citizen but have lived all my life in Spain and attend a spanish non-international school. I would like to know if I would stand any chance at all of getting into any Ivy League colleges.

Rising Senior
I'm not sure how to translate it into a 4 point scale but had a 9.8 out of 10 grade point average at the end of my junior year with a very clear upward trend, going from around 8 out of 10 in the spanish equivalent of 9th grade to almost straight 10 out of 10 grades.

SAT score of 2050 (740,730,580) Barely practiced before the test and planning to retake it and think I'm capable of 750 across the board.
SAT II -Planning to take Math II, Physics and Chemistry and would expect good grades

Coursework
Courses don't work in Spain exactly in the same way as in the US, you don't pick each individual course, you pick a specific path. I'm doing the "Bio-sanitary path" which includes Maths, English as a foreign language, French, Philosophy, Spanish Literature, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Spanish History and Geography. Apart from doing the full spanish curriculum I'm also doing the IB Diploma in a special program my school has in which I'll be taking Maths SL and Maths HL, English B SL, Spanish A HL, Biology HL, Philosophy SL and Chemistry HL.

The IB grades I already have are 6 in Maths SL and 7 in English B, and would expect to get at least 6 in all other IB exams.

EC
-Reciting at Poetry events 9th, 11th and 12th prospectively
-3 weeks as a full-time volunteer in Russia
-Valuable member of the Rugby team 10th (while in Scotland) and 11th Had to abandon it because of an inability to effectively pursue the sport in Spain
-Part of the Student Council 10th, 11th and 12th (prospectively) as an assistant member in 10th grade and as head representative in 11th
-Captain of a debating team 10th, 11th and 12th (prospectively) "intramural" champions in 10th and third place in regional organized debating competition in 11th
-Volunteer helping different institutions concerned with the care of either old, mentally disabled or homeless people 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th (prospectively)
-Head of an investigation project into Bio-remediation of chewing gum 10th

Aditional
Spanish is my mother tongue but my English is also native-like, very proficient at French too.
Income: Medium on the low side.

Hooks: Not really sure here, latino if still a hook and wealth of international experience.

I'd like to be chanced for Ivy League schools, and what decent engineering colleges would be a match given my current situation. The only requirements that I'm looking at in colleges is that they are nearer to the east coast and that they have strong academics with research programs being a big plus.

I believe (I’m not 100% sure on this, will check out later) that colleges would make you apply as international, even if you are a US citizen. They have to know where your family paid taxes for the last 3 years (spain) and then they decide if you are international or US Citizen. (This is what one college told me) International is pretty difficult for ivies, but give it a shot!

In compliance with US regulations my father (US Citizen) has been paying taxes on both countries for as long as he has resided in Spain and, havn’t checked with every college, but the ones I contacted directed me to apply as a US citizen. Nonetheless the whole aspect of applying not living in the states is quite complicated.

Do you need financial aid?

I’m not sure if a spanish national would count towards under-represented minority status (ie hispanic/latino), as these are typically reserved for latin americans.

To be competitive for Ivies you would need to improve your SAT I score of 580

Improve your SAT score a bit perhaps to 2200? Your EC’s are fairly unique (especially the chewing gum one) and GPA is fairly good. Good luck. Perhaps Cornell would be a good Ivy to look into?

Chance me and my friend back?

Yes I would indeed apply for financial aid, I’m a Spanish-US dual citizen which in practical terms means I’m a regular US citizen when in the states. I wouldn’t have thought that Spanish ethnicity would count as under-represented minority status before starting the application process but most college application forms I’ve encountered including common app list Spanish as “Latino”
