Chance Me for Ivy's and UC's

GPA: 4.0 unweighted 5.0 weighted
ACT: 28
Subject Literature: 650
Subject Math 1: 603
Subject Math 2: 551

Schools:
CA UC's
Stanford
Ivy's

you should probably post about ECs, APs, class rigor, awards, rank, etc. it’s hard to tell.

your gpa seems like you’re val?

not sure… based solely off test scores, stanford and ivies are out, unless you’ve got a stand out quality you havent listed?

not sure about uc’s. more info!

How do you get 603 and 551 on your subject tests?

Idk it doesn’t look good.

Who knows, maybe you have good EC;'s.

Those subject scores are estimates. I think they were those numbers, but I know they’re in that range and don’t feel like looking up my scores. My school doesn’t rank and I haven’t won any awards. As for extracurriculars, I play 7 musical instruments, am a Freemason, and a volunteer tutor to children.

How do you get a 5.0 unweighted? Are you a senior? EVERY course you’ve ever taken has been honors/ AP? Or is your GPA system different?

Your scores would be low for Ivy’s and Stanford; Any hooks? URM?
You would be fine with most of the UCs, maybe not so much Berkeley and LA. But its hard to tell from how much you’ve posted.

5.0 if you only include academic classes, which are all honors. If you include things like PE and band, it would drop the GPA, but I thought they only looked at academic classes in a weighted GPA. Yes, I’ve taken all honors courses every year. What are hooks and URM? What other information do you guys need?

And would a 30 ACT or higher improve my chances of getting into the better schools? I’m mainly interested in going to UCSB or UCLA, but if I got into a Ivy I’d probably go.

With those scores Ivy’s/Stanford are pretty much out of question.

So how much do subjects matter? If I were to have a 32 on the ACT, would the subjects still bring me down?

drpvv:

Where did you get 5.0 unweighted from? “4.0 unweighted 5.0 weighted”

They matter insofar as the scores you have, which are generally all too low for Ivy’s and Stanford, will not look good regardless of what you get in the ACT. Even if you got a 36 in the ACT, you would need to bring your Subject Tests up a lot to be competitive.
A general philosophy would be that good scores in Subject Tests don’t really matter once you get 750+ in them, but lower scores definitely do count against you.

it doesn’t look good. But who knows,it seems to me that you are out at UCB,UCLA(they put a lot effort on numbers), but standford is a crapshoot.
