ACT: 31-33 (my last practice ACT was a 31, and I'm taking a class, so it should be in that range).
SAT II: US History, 740. Bio M 630 (re-taking it). Taking World History (guessing mid/high-700s), Lit (mid-700s).
APs: smelly 4 in US, sophomore year. Taking Euro, Micro, Macro, Lang, and World this springggg
Rank: school doesn't do that

Schedule (see "GPA" for GPA explanation):
Freshman year (3.9 UW, 4.25 W):
Algebra I CP, Honors Earth Science, French II, Tutorial (study hall thing), Honors World History, Honors Freshman English, Gym

Sophomore year (3.96 UW, 4.21 W):

Junior year (3.92 UW, 4.57 W):
AP Euro, AP Lang, AP Micro, Adv. Journalism II, Honors French IV, Chemistry, Alg. II CP

Senior year (what I will probably be taking):
AP Gov, AP Bio, AP French (or Latin I if there's no AP French available next year), AP Lit, Adv. Journalism III, Pre-Calc, Art History, AP Photo, probably some law classes

Extracurriculars/clubs (no real order):
-Journalism (7-12). Our newspaper is literally one of the best newspapers in the entire country. I'm one of the best- if not the best- writer on our paper. Right now, I'm assistant editor of the features section, but I should be managing editor of writing next year. My columns are published in the local paper and I shadowed the editor-in-chief of a regional paper over the summer. I went to journalism camp since 8th grade, and I've gotten awards for my writing.
-Debate Team (11-12). Captain and Founder. Just was founded, so obviously we're not like a nationally avowed team or anything. Right now it's just an after school "drop by and come debate" thing because we still don't have an adviser, but hopefully we'll be going to competitions next year.
-French Society (10-12), President and Founder. We organize a bunch of funlicious activities and charity stuff.
-I have a blog where I put a lot of my writing, and cool pictures, up. I have 500 followers so yeah... nbd y'know. (I don't even know if this counts.)
-WILLOW (9-12). Women bond strengthening club thing. I was selected as one of the mentors to younger girls at our HS.
-Strong Girls (10-12). We go to elementary schools during the spring and teach them to be proud in their lack of Y c'some and not to be beyotches.
-Debate Camp (10-12). Two weeks, day camp.
-National Honors Society (11-12), Cum Laude chapter. Can't join before 11th grade.
-IMPACT (9-12). Charity stuff.
-Varsity Gymnastics (9). (hellzz yeah...?)
-Assistant directed youth theatre (froshie year, age limit of involvement).

Volunteer:
-President of Young Women for Change (10-12). I'm the president for a chapter which includes two counties. Had a fundraiser and made $5,000 for a local women's charity.
-SOAR Tutoring (10-12). Once a week, I tutor low-income Detroit pre-schoolers in reading and writing.
-I am a tour guide/archives helper at my local historical society.
-I need to do more soup kitchen-y stuff, don't I?

Honors:
-Best Affirmative Speech, Highest Overall Score at Debate Camp
-Third Place in Column Writing from MIPA
-Pacemaker, Columbia Gold Crown on our paper (highest honor a high school newspaper can get)
-I will have around 2903840 awards by the end of this year for writing stuff, so pretend that they're all here for your scrutinizing

Job:
-Bagger at Kroger (11-whenever I get fired/quit in an angry storming out-way, 20 hours a week).

Essay:
-Will blow everyone's minds

Recommendations:
-One of them will be my journalism teacher, who loves me. Other one will prolly be AP Euro, who also loves meh.
-HS counselor helped out my older sister who is a bit of a shall we say... heroin addict. Not sure if that will play in, but it should be a pretty good recommendation.

What are my chances? Any advice on how to improve? Do remember I'd be a little less immature with the admissions officers. Thanks a lot guys!

bumppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

Okay, so pretty much I love your ECs because they make you seem like an adorable applicant (lol i know its weird to say). You founded debate club which is awesome in my opinion. Your pretty much great except for your ACT. If you bring that up to a 34 than your in I would say. P.S. how many debate club members do you have? lol Good luckk :)

I hope these schools see your “mindblowing” cockiness and reject you

@BernieMadoff
I’m mostly kidding/over exaggerating/using a better word than “very good.” Don’t flip out…

I am chancing you as if you had a 32 (or higher) ACT:

Brown: Low Reach (or possibly high match)
Columbia: Low Reach
Berkeley: Match
UPenn (if you apply ED): Match (Legacy)
UChicago: High Match
U of M: Match (out of state) Low Match (in state)
UVA: Match

Chance back please: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1096996-harvard-stanford-mit-caltech-georgetown-upenn-northwestern-uva-uf-um.html#post12093365</a></p>

lol i love this forum. so much animosity.

You’re definitely in all of those except for Columbia and Berkeley. Columbia isn’t impossible–it’s actually pretty likely that you’ll get in, but just not quite as definitely as the rest. Berkeley should be easy for you to get into, but you’re applying out of state, which really hurts your chances for them. It’s still likely for you, but I wouldn’t be shocked by a rejection, especially since you’re an upper middle class, white, Jewish child of privilege.

You’re a fantastic applicant. My only word of advice, which you’ve already addressed, is to avoid coming off as arrogant, especially in your essays. They’re less about how well you write and more about your personality. So be careful with them. Otherwise, I see you succeeding! Best of luck!

Return the favor? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1098422-chance-pretty-diva.html#post12107316</a></p>

OP…To be competitive for any of the schools you mentioned, you really need to bring your ACT score up to at least a 34. (If you are IS in VA, CA, or MI, a 32-33 might suffice.)
