For Lehigh, Cornell, JHU, Carnegie Mellon, URochester, Boston University, Boston College, NYU, Rutgers.

Stats
Race: Did not report, but asian.
GPA: 3.8 weighted. HUUGE upward trend. Unweighted is around 3.65 or 3.7
Courses: Honors heavy. No APs until Senior year. Took Calculus junior year. Taking language all four years.
SAT: 2150.
SAT out of 1600: 1470

Extracurriculars: Music. Average player in school, although I'm first chair in an ensemble outside of school. I consider myself a slightly above average player. Founded a club in my school (game club), and I'm an officer in our school's pep band.

I'm also a creative writer. Which means my college essays will most likely be above average.

Lower chances at Cornell, JHU, and CMU. From what you’ve listed you don’t have anything super special about you that would boost your app. Do you have an asian name? Your scores and GPA are low for your ethnicity, so I can see why you would not indicate it. IDK if that affects your app at all.

My advice for you is to apply RD to your top schools, because you would probably be deferred to RD anyways. Do as great as you can first semester senior year to make up for your lower GPA, and update colleges of any awards you receive if possible. Get involved in some sort of EC that is noteworthy for your apps. Sorry if this seems harsh, just letting you know what I would do.

Your ECs are light, your GPA is shaky. If you can get the SAT to 2200+ and ED either Cornell, CMU, NYU, or JHU you have a chance. Don’t be surprised if you don’t get in.

I’m taking a AP heavy courseload next year. AP world language, AP Econ, AP Stat.
And my weighted will probably rise to a 3.9 after my grades for second semester junior year are computed.

Do you think getting my works published will increase my chances? I spend quite a lot of time on my writing.

I’m kinda undecided right now. Between teaching, business and engineering. I’m good at math, and English too (unusual combination). But I’m awful at science.

-Weighted GPA rarely matters to colleges. They will focus on your UW GPA in academic classes.

-Publishing your work would not hurt your application in any way. It might not really help it either, depending on the school.

-Are you able to take more AP classes or honors? I would strongly recommend pushing yourself if you really want to get into top universities. If you’re just applying to see if you can get in, then don’t stress it.
