Community Service Activist ('10)

Essays/recs will most likely be excellent (I'm a decent writer, and I asked very good teachers who liked me/had me for multiple years)

Also, will applying EA hurt my chances, since they can't see my senior grades (which will most likely be much higher than previous years)?

For the record, I'd love to go into international relations/linguistics.

bump? I’ll chance back!

your chances for all schools except uchicago are pretty good.

yeah, that’s the one I’m considering my high reach. Thanks!

I’d say Bates and Macalaster are not as high chances as the others, but still a pretty decent chance. As the other poster said, UChicago is a reach, but it is for everyone. chance me back?

thanks, WiscoKid. I chanced you!

bump, after a month!

Updates:
I’m no longer applying to Bates, and have decided to apply to Brandeis.
My second ACT scores: 36 Reading/36 English/30 Sci/26 Math (ew)/34 Writing (10 on the Essay)

another note: my low GPA is pretty much due to horrible grades freshman year. My grades since then have been on an upward trend, and I currently have straight A’s this quarter, which my EA schools (UVM, Bard, UChicago, and UConn) will see.

UV/Uconn your in (safety), great chances at rest w/Chicago being hardest. Gl!

Good stats here are your chances:

American University - Low Match
NYU - High Match/Low Reach
University of Connecticut (in-state) - Safety
Bard College - Match
Bates College - Match
University of Vermont - Safety
Macalester College - Safety
University of Chicago - Low Reach

Good Luck!

Thanks!

did you get your new SATs? UCONN/UVM are my safeties and they seem to be yours too. You should not have trouble getting into those and should be competitive for merit scholarships/honors program, especially if you got your Math SAT over 700. Brandeis should be a low target for you if you write well enough essays. You fit NYU’s profile but it’ll be expensive. U of Chicago is your highest reach here. I’m applying as well. Make sure your essays are top notch (they wouldn’t give you one like “Find X” if they didn’t want you to be original). Good luck!
