Chance me for Northeastern University in Boston, MA?

I’m currently a junior at an early college high school in New Mexico. Therefore, by the time I graduate high school I’ll have an associate of arts. This would likely make me a transfer from New Mexico State University, and I’m not sure as to how much of a benefit or disadvantage that fact will be. I’m planning on being a political science major. Possibly a double major in journalism or economics. I’m also not sure as to how many, if any, of my credits that I’ve earned through NMSU will transfer.

My GPA hovers around 3.3 to 3.5, which isn’t amazing, but I try to keep myself involved in extracurricular activities as much as possible.

My 10th grade year score on the PSAT was 1130 total, I’m waiting for this years test scores to come in.

I’m the representative for my student council at NMSU’s student government (the partner university for the early college)
Business Professionals of America Chapter Vice President
An intern for US Senator Tom Udall, as well as the mayor of my city.
A member of the mayors student advisory council in my city.

Former member of National Junior Honor Society
Former debate club member
Former Key Club member
Presented to a committee of the NM State Legislature
Visited with the Governor of NM about school issues
Recommendation letter from my state representative for the US Senate Youth Program, with another one from the mayor of my city
BPA National Leadership Conference Qualifier for economic research, (12 place nationally, first in state) and website design (fourth place nationally, first in state)
First place winner of a test on management, marketing, and human resources at NM BPA State Leadership Conference

I’m planning on getting even more involved in a lot of ways relevant to my career interest, as well as improving my GPA, but for where I am now I would really appreciate some info on my chances for Northeastern. It’s hands down my dream school.

Thank you!

No idea about your chances, but double check on your status as a transfer. If you’re graduating from high school Spring 2019 and dont take college classes between then and when you start the new college, you should be considered a freshman. That’s how it works for running start (early college program in Washington State) even though many get an AA.

Will you need financial aid? At most schools, there is very little money for transfer students.

That said, being from New Mexico will give you a bit of a boost as Northeastern is especially welcoming for students from outside the northeastern part of the country.

I don’t expect to need too much financial aid, but if I end up needing more than I anticipate that will be good to know. Thank you!
