Chance me for Northwestern ED and smaller liberal arts schools!

Hi! I’m a very nervous early decision applicant to Northwestern. If not accepted, I plan to apply RD to Vassar, Wesleyan, Brown, Boston University, Barnard, and others. If you could give me feedback on where you think I could get into or even where you think I’d fit best that would be awesome!!

Stats:
SAT: 1500 (just took October one though and hoping to get a 1510 at least) - R/W: 780, Math: 720 (what I think will go up)
GPA: 4.0 u/w, 4.5 w
Top 20% of my class (VERY competitive public high school)
White Female
APS: 5s in U.S. History, Eng Lang, French Lang, and Music Theory. Taking 4 more this year: European History, Calc AB, US Gov and Politics, and Eng Literature.
Intended Double Major in Theatre and History

Extracurriculars:
Board of Directors for a student run community theatre company, College Credit for a musical theatre pre-college program, Music Director of A Cappella Group, President of GSA, Secretary (previously treasurer) of Honors Chamber Choir, various leading roles in community and high school theatre as well as music direction, stage direction, and technical theatre experience. Active member of a social justice club advocating against Rape Culture, member of National Honor Society, and Vice President of a ukulele orchestra.

Recs: My 2 arts teachers that have taught me for 4 years are writing two of them, and I feel like they will speak really highly of me. My 2 academic recs are going to be pretty good.

Essay - I feel like mine has a hook and is written well but definitely isn’t earth shattering?

I’ve shown a lot of demonstrated interest in NU - I toured last year and met with a theatre student, I have gone to two info sessions, and I’ve done the purple preview thing where you visit as a prospective ED student.

Any thoughts you have please let me know!!

You’ve done great in high school and with your clear interests/passions, congrats! You’re certainly in the “pile” of applicants that will be considered seriously by Northwestern’s (and etc’s) adcoms.

The issue, of course, is that there are way more qualified applicants than spaces for each of them at each school you’ve listed, minus BU.THe rest are reaches for everyone. Would you consider adding a couple more matches besides BU? And a clear safety? I don’t know what state you’re in, but, how are your state schools for safeties?

Thank you! I appreciate that! I do have other colleges, especially safeties, that I plan to apply to, I just didn’t list them here because I wanted to know about the colleges I was more nervous about. My safeties are Clark, Mt. Holyoke, Oberlin, and Sarah Lawrence. Another match I plan on applying to is NYU.

You seem like a very strong applicant! Test scores and GPA are in range for Northwestern (top 25% for reading and at 25% as is with math according to their CDS), and your ECs show true passion for music and theater. Of course admissions at that level is always tough but I think you have a good chance. Best of luck!

As well-crafted as your list appears, you might still benefit from two or theee well-chosen additions. Kenyon, for example, would be very nicely suited to your dual academic interests.

With respect to your current group, I think you’d fit very well at Vassar in particular based on various aspects of your post.

Congratulations on your grades. You are definitely a strong candidate. Did you submit the music theatre supplement?
