Match for all and Northwestern is a low-mid reach

@vwnyu22 I completely agree. I would consider Northwestern a low reach since linguistics is usually not the most competitive major for many schools. Your ACT is a little low, but it’s balanced by your GPA. Your ECs are pretty nice as well for linguistics. I actually have a friend who applied to Northwestern RD with a 31 ACT and a lower GPA (similar ECs) for political science and ended up getting in, so it is most definitely possible!

I’d say match for most, Northwestern is a reach though. Maybe NYU a high match, but your major helps you there. Solid EC’s, but ACT could be higher. It’ll come down to your essays for NYU and Northwestern imo. Good luck!!

Bumping. Could I get a few more people to chance me, please?

Northwestern is a reach for just about everybody but the rest of those schools you would have a 70-80% chance of admission in my opinion.

NYU, BU, and Northeastern I would consider targets for you. Northwestern is a reach, but with fantastic essays and letters of recommendations you could get accepted

I just got rejected from Northeastern so I’m not feeling too confident about the rest of these schools. Thanks everyone for your help with chancing me!

Thank you for the update. I’m so sorry you didn’t get into Northeastern. Hopefully, some other schools will accept you. Do you already have some acceptances from your safety schools?

@HiToWaMom yes I have 3 acceptances so far from Ohio State, Fordham, and UMass Amherst. I got into honors at both OSU and UMass. I felt pretty confident about NE but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Really hoping for BU or NYU because they’re my top choices but also my most expensive.

Wow, those are nice acceptances! Congratulations!
Fingers crossed for BU and NYU!

Waitlisted at BU… now i’m wondering why I even bothered to try lol

I’m sorry for the waitlist, but hey, you tried - and it’s an honorable thing to do. It’s better to try and fail (in your case, waitlisted, not rejected) than never try and wonder. Good luck to you!

Aaaaand a rejection from Northwestern which i was expecting but i was also counting on BU and Northeastern as options. Looks like I’m going to OSU for that sweet in-state tuition because even if I get in I definitely can not afford NYU lol

Darn, I’m sorry for the rejection! Just one left?

yeah only one more… i regret not applying to more schools haha

Waitlisted at NYU. Thanks everyone for all your help. I didn’t get into any of the schools I actually wanted to go to and now I don’t even know why I bothered to try. I never saw myself as an in-state school student but I that’s where I’m ending up. I feel really stupid for thinking I even had a chance at these schools because I am so painfully average and I thought I was unique. whatever. I’m glad to be off this godforsaken website. peace out y’all

Thank you for the update. I’m sorry for the waitlist at NYU. Give yourself a couple of days to bum out. Then it’s time to decide between Fordham and two honors. You will meet lots of bright kids at all those schools. Good luck!!
