<p>I got a 3 on my AP US, and I know that NYU only really considers 4s and 5s, but I highly anticipate a 5 on my upcoming senior AP Lit test, and probably 4s for the others. </p>

<p>Basically, NYU is my dream school, and I'm not so narrow minded that I don't have other options in mind, but I'd very, very much love to get in if possible. I plan on getting recommendations from two Junior year teachers who gave me 100s in their classes, and expect them to be very good. Writing is a strong point for me, so I'm hoping my essay will be powerful enough to detract from the fact that my GPA could be stronger. I'll probably retake the SAT come autumn to up my math, because I know it's not as high as it should be. </p>

<p>Do you think NYU CAS is a huge reach for me, or a possibility if I write a good essay?</p>

<p>Part of admission is your ability to afford a school. NYU is expensive and notoriously stingy with financial aid. Do you have a way to pay?</p>

<p>Raise the GPA and SAT (especially the math), if possible. Your sophomore and junior years look good, but what happened freshman year? You’ll need a good explanation for the 3.3 GPA. Your ECs look good, but you don’t have many AP classes under your belt.</p>

<p>Overall, CAS seems to be a reach for you at this point, but not a HUGE reach. If you can manage to raise your class rank and SAT score, and write a solid essay, you should stand a decent shot.</p>

<p>EDIT: And yes, what Wordworker said. NYU is $60k a year; you’d better scope some merit-based scholarships if you need a way to pay.</p>
