what u do think my chances are? what improvements should i make?

ACT is low, and you need another subject test I think. Look up NYU’s new scoring policy. ED your chances are okay, I would say low reach. A 30 ACT is only a 2000 when you convert it to a SAT score. Even if you apply ED to Stern, it looks like a little stretch.

BTW, FBLA is a joke. I was a state winner also, and it doesn’t mean anything. I am not even going to put it on my app.

Everything except your ACT looks very good.

nuclear pakistan= fbla is not a joke when ur a state officer and a big part of the organization, i was an national winner, and also im applying for stern it sound slike my biggest asset

also… wait if i give my ACT sCORE i DONT NEED An subject tests according to new testing policies rite?

I think you should retake the ACT. Truthfully, unless you have the basic grades to get in, then EC’s don’t matter at all. That is your case. I am sure you will not be happy with the result. I am sorry if I came out cynical, I was only trying to give you the truth. I am really just trying to help :)

Why don’t you retake the ACT?

i am retaking this septemeber, and no hard feelings, so wat do u think a 31 or 32 would suffice or aim higher?

Pakistan is the biggest ****** on this forum. Just cause fbla is a joke at your school doesn’t mean everyone elses program is horrible. At my school nhs was ■■■■■■■■ as was DECA, although at many other schools it’s legit. In truth, although your EC’s are phenomenal, your test scores are pretty low. You do, however stand a slight chance EC if your essays are AMAZING and you get PHENOMENAL letters of rec. That was my case, test scores were very low (1920)but everything else was great, including gpa. Nyu is very expensive, 62k/yr for stern, so my families tripping out since we are low income and there’s all these expenses that aren’t covered by FA. Not fun stuff. Best of luck.

thats why i was planning to apply early, even if i got in, and finnacial aid didnt work out i could always break out of the binding contract due to finincial aid… i know applying early to get and admissions advantage is not the best thing to do but do u think my strategy would work

ronakmp “breaking out” of the binding ed contract isn’t as easy as you think it will be
it’s not you who gets to decide that you want to break out- it’s whether nyu’s financial office thinks that your family desperately won’t be able to afford it
generally, i also think that if you were accepted ed, they would analyze your family situation and give you a certain amount of financial aid that they believe your family would be able to afford

other than that, i like your ec’s, but again, your test scores are low
i STRONGLY advise you to take the sat, since everyone knows that the sat is much harder than the act- at least on the east coast
also, it’s basically committing suicide if you won’t send in any sat ii’s
take your sat and a few sat ii’s, and then send in your act if you really want to
this should be basic knowledge to you, esp if you’re from ny
it doesnt matter how good your grades are if you don’t send in the sat’s, because truthfully, we don’t know how competitive your school is.

@peagirl

NYU takes both the SAT and the ACT and weights them equally, even if east coast high schools only take the ACT. NYU knows the intricacies of both of those tests, even if “New Yorkers” don’t. every high schools bundles a sheet that tells the college admissions committee about the high school and the course loads, etc. so while yes, WE don’t know how competitive the OP’s school is, NYU will know.

@OP

in all honesty, in this stage of the game, if you’ve prepped for the ACT there’s no reason to suddenly switch to the SAT. period. NYU does not favor one over the other, even though we are an east coast school.

and i know emotions are running high because college application season is starting, but can we keep it civil? aka please stop bashing the other members and bashing ECs.

saying things like, “i don’t think this is a very strong EC” is CONSTRUCTIVE, saying that certain ECs are “a joke” is just being petty.

[blah blah blah, insert welcome week leader peacekeeping training here]

seriously guys, no need to get personal. this IS college confidential after all.

Here are the testing requierments:
[NYU > Undergraduate Admissions > Applying for Admission > Freshman Applicants > General Requirements](How to Apply)

Although they do not require SAT II’s if you are taking the ACT, I strongly suggest sending in two. Take two SAT II’s October 3rd: Math II and another of your choice. Or you may want to consider taking 3 SAT II’s.

see the thing im worried about my gpa… 91.7… if i do regular decesion than there r gonna be kids with 95+ severally hampering my chance of getting into NYU

bump bump plz someone help anser my question

I think class rank is a better indicator of your academic strength. In my school, grade inflation is so high that a 91.7 isn’t even in the third decile, but in some schools it’s the valedictorian.

bumppppppppp
