Even though Stern is definitely a tough school to get into, I honestly think there is no chance that you will not be admitted. The combination of your SAT scores, extracurricular activities (intern at a hedge fund will look great), ethnicity, and story are all huge pluses in college admissions.

I just got in this year, so if you have any questions about my application process let me know.

Good Luck!

@SternBusiness

I was really afraid my GPA would bring me down, thank you so much for the support! I am actually very interested in the application process - how did it go for you? What are your tips for me to make my story and ECs shine? And what do you think is most important in my application so far (that I should probably stress)?

Thank you so much.

Your GPA will bring you down, but that’s ok since everything else is essentially perfect. Is there any chance you can raise that GPA a little by the time you apply?

No, it’s spring term and the most I can get is 3.5_ before I send EDs fall term of my senior year.

Bump, more chancers please.

Bump!!

Hey, I just scored an internship with Goldman Sachs, and I was accepted into the Yale Young Global Scholars Program (YYGS), how does my application look now?

Hey @SternBusiness can you please tell me more about your application? email me on mahroukh@hotmail.co.uk please

  1. Your GPA is low, but that may be forgiven due to your high SAT score. If you can, try to raise your GPA to a 3.6-3.7 during senior year.
  2. Your ECs are great, so don't worry too much about them.
  3. Are you Egyptian? If you are, then you'd be considered white by U.S. census standards, not African American.
  4. Don't put down the Goldman Sachs internship. Colleges would think why would a high schooler get an internship at a prestigious investment bank? It makes you seem like some privileged, well connected kid which would ruin your poor refuge/first-gen immigrant hook.
  5. Write good essays and you have a pretty good shot! NYU Stern's admission rate was 13% last year so good luck!
