UW stands for U of Wisconsin MADISON. UWM stands for U of Wis MILWAUKEE. I assume you mean plain UW, the flagship campus.

@wis75 oh yikes thanks for letting me know! I had no clue. I always saw it as UW-Madison so I figured it would be UWM haha.

You’re likely to get in but don’t expect merit or financial aid beside the federal loans. So, the question becomes, can your parents afford the cost of UW out of pocket (from income and savings)?

Your parents should NOT raid their retirement funds as well. They can never recover the funds for when they need them, while you can pay off loans. The big question will be- is it worth that much debt (presuming that you, like most, need financial aid) for a UW education compared to your cheaper options? Not likely. There is a reason so many top tier students go to college in state.
