I’m in all Honors and AP courses and have volunteer hours as well as a 34 on my ACT, and extra curricular activities. I’m just worried my lackluster freshman and sophomore year might screw me. Thoughts? Thanks.
Are you from Ohio? That would boost your chances significantly, though OSU has become more competitive even for in-state applicants recently. I was told by my college counselor that with a 34 on the ACT (as a student from a prep school in Columbus) I would most definitely be admitted. Your upward grade trend and ACT are good–congrats on your hard work. I think you’re well within range, but if you love the school, consider ED. You just never know these days (though I definitely would consider you a qualified applicant). Either way, Columbus is a great city and makes for a vibrant college atmosphere.
Yes I am from Ohio, as you said my worry is that it getting more and more competitive and that my freshman and sophomore year might not look very good. Do you think that the ACT and my Junior Year along with extra curriculars and volunteering alone will be enough to get me accepted? I’m just worried when compared to some of my peers with much better GPA’s then me.
I think the upward trend and your ACT score should be good enough for acceptance at OSU main campus. Have solid safeties that you feel good about though just in case.
Do you think that the fact that my freshman and sophomore years weren’t the best can be redeemed by junior year? I am going to try and get in more positions of leadership as well. I have heard that my lower sophomore and freshman year can be somewhat explained in my essay so I was wondering if that was true
