Chance me for Penn CAS ED. Will chance back!

Hey!
My stats are very low when compared to other applicants but I decided to give Penn as well as other top schools a chance anyway. I'm applied ED to Penn College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) for Psychology. Please chance me!

- AP US History (11), AP Gov and Politics (12) Teacher- I didn't read it. He seems to like me but you never know. 7 or 8/10
- Coumselor: My interview went well with her. 8.5 /10

Other
-Hooks: URM (African-American), First Generation? (The definition varies from school to school. My mother has a HS diploma and my dad has an associates from a community college. I think I am FG for Penn), Local Applicant (Penn is in Philly and so am I!)
- Interview went well though it was short.
- Sort of a Penn filter school (we have sent between 25-30 students each year to Penn over the past couple of years)

Note: Be gentle. I know my scores are low. I welcome criticism but not out right meanness. Thanks! I will chance back!

Hi! Thank you for chancing me. Now about your application, it seems very very good. However, you did say that my extracurriculars are not very economics related for my post, and I would say that your extracurriculars do show passion most def, but aren’t psychology related if you get what I mean. Local applicants have their hopes higher, so I really hope you get into Penn!

Your application really is impressive. Just a note of advice, and I guess this is a slight warning. A while ago, I was surfing the web and I saw an article which caught my attention. Yale apparently rejected an outstanding kid who had 9 extracurriculars, because he was apparently “too wild”. So see if you can reduce your extracurriculars to something that shows who you are, maybe the most impressive ones. I know I also have ten in mine, it kind of sucks for the kids who do a lot along with their schoolwork.

Low reach because SAT/ACT score. You’re taking rigorous classes which will make up for the scores. I say you have a good chance

Hey, thanks for chancing me! I think you have a really competitive application. While your scores may be a bit on the lower end for the hyper-competitive schools, I still think that you have a great chance at Penn. The boost from applying ED should help as well. Also, since the Common App only has enough space for 10 activities (as you mentioned), you can add the rest to the “Additional Information” section. Good luck!

I would say it’s a low reach mostly because of your test scores. I hope you showed focus for certain ec’s in your essays because that would help a lot. Also, being a URM will help. I’d say you have about a 25% shot.

Chance back:

Thanks for the honesty! 25% is higher than the acceptance rate! hahs
My scores do worry me. However I have seen students from my school with these scores (and lower) get into Penn (some weren’t even URMs) so I figured I would give it a shot. Sure, I’ll chance you back!

Also my Why Penn essay was all about community service in Philly (basically explanation for why I’m president of my club and my tutoring seevice) and why it means so much to me.

You look like a strong applicant- I think you’ll have an 80 y/20 n, but I’d put my money on you getting in.

Chance me back, please?

You have very good chances. My money’s on you OP!
Being a URM will help but those test scores are going to hurt you

Well looks like my scores didn’t hurt me too much. University of Pennsylvania Class of 2019!
