Thanks you guys for chancing!! Stumbled across Pomona through an alumni and I think it’s a perfect fit- they have PPE major, small, liberal arts, west coast… Really hope to get in

Hey there,

I’m glad you’re considering Pomona among the other schools you’ve listed. Having been at Pomona for two years now I think I can offer some experiential knowledge on the admissions criteria at Pomona. Academically, I think you’re right where you need to be, at least from a test score vantage (GPA seems to be carrying a little bit more weight recently; be sure to keep your grades up!). Your scores are right along the median, so good job on getting to where you are.

What stands out from your portfolio, at least in my opinion, from the typical Pomona applicant pool is your modeling experience and your work abroad leading and organizing those summer camps. If I were an admissions officer, I’d be curious to learn more about the two and see how the two worlds have shaped you thus far and have motivated your worldview and aspirations.

All in all, you’re a great candidate for the class of 2020 and I’m excited that you’ll be applying ED1! In the meantime, I’d suggest taking an active interest in visiting your counselor a few times before the Nov 1 deadline to chat so he/she can get to know you better. Personal recommendations that contain impressions from an informed adult are always a great addition to any college application, especially for small liberal arts colleges like Pomona!
