Hi, I'm a female senior looking to apply to Princeton (1st choice!!!!) Harvard, Stanford, & Williams for college.

My SAT scores:
Math-790
Critical Reading-750
Verbal-760

I take all AP/Honors classes and have had a 98 or 99 in every class I've taken since Freshman year. I am also most likely to be valedictorian of my school. (It's between me and one other person who had a 97 in Math, so it will most likely be me.) My school is highly ranked (average SAT is around 1900) and in Florida.

My Extracurriculars:
*Tennis Team (JV for Freshman & Sophomore and Varsity for Junior & most likely Senior)
*Chorus (for all four years of high school)
*700 hours of community service (I am a therapy dog volunteer-I visit sick children in hospitals with my dog)
*School Play (I've had two leads so far, I have always had a speaking role with at least 20 lines)
*Math Team (won a state award)
*Creative Writing Club
*Animal Lovers Club

Thank you & please chance me!

PS: Is Williams enough of a safety? Should I have a "safer" one?

Have you taken SAT IIs? How have you done on APs? Williams is definitely not a safety… you barely have a chance of getting into Harvard, Princeton, or Stanford as you stand right now. I think you’re overestimating yourself because your extracurriculars demonstrate nothing more than school achievement. You don’t indicate going beyond the school level (for instance, attending seminars, workshops, enrichment programs, or anything nationally or state recognized). And how challenging is your high school? If the second person has a 1900, chances are your public school is highly grade inflated.

The fours might raise some skepticism if you’re getting a 99… but otherwise your academic profile is stellar. I don’t know. What kind of a record does your school have with Ivies and top schools? Have you considered applying EA to a bunch of safeties/targets and then going for all your reaches RD?

I’m sorry if I come across as sounding rude, but your post makes you sound a little arrogant. Make sure that if you interview, you don’t give that impression. I think it was probably the line about being valedictorian: “(It’s between me and one other person who had a 97 in Math, so it will most likely be me.)” IMHO, that sounds hyper-competitive, as if you are actively checking up on the other students around you. No, Williams is absolutely not a safety.
PtonAlumnus, I’m willing to bet it’s a parent with two children. Saying “Hi I’m…” instead of “Hi my D/S is…”
