I may be missing some things, but that's my general resume. What do you all think?
Please be honest, and I would especially appreciate your insight if you have applied to any of the above schools. My top 2 right now are W&M and Princeton.
Thanks!

Hi. I don’t really have any specialized knowledge except I plan on applying to SCEA at Princeton and I have stalked the life out of their acceptance threads.

Hopefully your new SAT I is above 2200, though your current one is perfectly fine. If you want to go into something math related though the 670 isnt too hot. Maybe try to get your math II subject test to above a 700- princeton review was pretty good for me.

I love all of your clubs and EC’s! You just seem like a great person with the Emergency room volunteering especially. Maybe if you can get another leader position, but really idk how much that would improve your chances.

You will probably get into all of the schools in which you are thinking of applying. The only two that are reaches I think are Johns Hopkins and Princeton, but you definitely have a good chance. I don’t know much about William and Mary, but I think you will get in?

Keep in mind most schools consider the highest score for each section. So even if you only scored higher on one section on the retake, it’s still good.

I’d say JHU is a high match, UVa and W&M are matches-high matches, and Yale and Princeton are high-very high reaches as they are with most people who apply.

Definitely apply to all of them though, you’re a great candidate.

You’re math scores may be hurting you, maybe try a couple more subject tests. I believe Princeton requires three anyway, not sure about Yale though.

okay, you don’t have any hooks whatsoever. Princeton is going to be a very very very high reach, even EA. apply ED to JHU, and there is a 43% acceptance rate. that’s your best bet. good luck!!! (W&M shouldn’t be a problem, UVA might be though: high match, low reach respectively)

chance back!!!

Dreaminapples- Thanks for your input, and good luck to you with Princeton! Luckily I do NOT want to go into something math-related, as that is (obviously) one of my weaker subjects. I want to be a Molecular Biology major, which is great considering my SAT II score in Biology, haha.
And thanks about my EC’s, haha, I try.
I agree that JHU and Princeton are both reaches, as they are for everyone, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks very much.

imasophomore-- Absolutely, that’s why I’m hoping that I at least brought my math up by 30-50 points! I’m not as worried about how I did on the other sections. Thank you for saying I’m a great candidate, I certainly hope you’re right!
Princeton requires only two subject tests, but if I have the time I plan to re-take the Math II one. ;)

To Anon- Yes, I know the acceptance rate ED to Hopkins, it used to be my first choice and I have toured there twice. However, I wouldn’t apply ED for the simple fact that I like other schools better, and I don’t want to be bound to them. Right now I’m thinking SCEA to Princeton is my best bet, as it is currently “tied” with W&M for my first choice, it’s non-binding, and the acceptance rate EA hovers a little above 20%, which is as good as you can hope for with the Ivys. :)

Back to page 1! :D

Also planning to apply: Wake Forest University. :)

I’m not 100% sure, but molecular biology is still very math-y. Anything scientific requires a high level of mathematical understanding. And usually you have to do quite a bit of chemistry before getting the degree in molecular biology; at a college level, Chem. is even more math-filled than in high school. So if I were you, in order to beef up the stats for schools like Yale and Princeton, try and get that math II to ~700. Just study for it and you can do it. For the other schools, you definitely have a very good chance, but still, having that extra 70 points will probably help a bit.

I know, you’re absolutely right about the Math. I’ll probably take the test again in October. The thing is, I’m in the highest math program my school offers and I get straight A’s–I’m not bad at math, I just test really badly in it. I’m hoping that the AO will see that from my resume and not just judge my SAT scores, you know?

I’d pick some matches and safeies, because apart from UMBC and William and Mary (high match), all the rest are reaches. Princeton at this point, with your test grades and ECs, is going to be an extremely high reach, so maybe look at some LACs (some top #20-40 perhaps?) for more matches. Good luck!

Ivies are reaches for everyone.

UMBC and UM should be in.

UVa - high match

JHU low reach

I’m exactly the same ace. I utterly destroy calculus, but SAT math is a strange demon.

Born2dance- LACs?
Texas- What about WFU? Any opinion? But thanks for your input!
And moonman- Thanks, that makes me feel better haha!

I am guessing a high match for WFU. What is your area of interest in college?

Texas- I’m planning on studying Biology/Neuroscience/Public Health. The program I will ultimately choose depends on where I am accepted. They each have their strengths. But, as you could’ve guessed, I’m going pre-med regardless. :)

I was looking up Wake Forest and was surprised to see the standardized tests are optional.

Yes, they are-- and the thing is, of the people who submitted scores last admission cycle, my section scores were higher than the “middle 50%” which is kind of comforting. I’m not saying I’m a shoe-in, but I like to think I’m competitive at least?

LAC means Liberal Arts College. A lot of the ones in the top 50 have incredible research programs.

Hey, just in case anyone feels like resurrecting this thread and adding some input, I thought I’d update it:

I just got my June SAT scores back, and they were indeed higher than my first sitting: 2260 (700 M, 770 W, 790 CR).

Your chances are better at JHU and Wake forest. If you do JHU ED, you may stand a good chance.

You should probably redo math II and may be one or two additional subjects.
