Chance Me for Princeton

I know that Princeton evaluates its applicants wholistically and that no specific portion determines the outcome, but I'm curious about the impact my GPA (3.98) would have. I have a 4.0 for sophomore and junior year (skipped freshmen), but I got a B+ senior year first semester. All comments welcome!

NOTE: this is NOT intended to be showy, boastful...anything of the kind. Just curious. Looking forward to your input!

Tell me if you need more info. Thanks!

It seems to me that you have as good a chance as anyone, but that the fact that all of your extracurriculars are academically oriented may hurt you. I may be totally wrong.

Bump...Bump

40 views and one response? Come on--I really appreciate your input!

i agree, a school like Princeton def. values humanities and well rounded. Your stats are good enough thats the question. I dont see any ECs besides educational ones to show ur more than a numbers...hopefully you showed it in ur essay. You will probly get in, the EC comment is only thing I got for ya to critique.

^You have a good point. I tried to convey the whole person in my essays; hopefully, the message carries through. Thanks!

so what else about your "whole person" did you try to convey in your essays? other than that your stats look quite solid!

Bump...Bump...

You're rejected for sure. That B+ will get you shoved in the reject pile right away. Unless you're a URM, athlete, or legacy? Then it's a push.

Lol. Wow TheWerg is such a d.i.c.k.

Unless it's a joke.

Some folks have commented that OP is too academic. Doesn't Princeton need some people who are just academic brainiacs and probably will end up finding some ground breaking new ways of solving some math or physics issues? I just dont understand the thrust on being well rounded for each applicant. Afterall this is a top undergraduate institutions of this country and they wont admin you because you are too academic?

@TheWerg: thanks for your optimistic outlook...

Most admissions offices at schools where i'm applying admit that they look for some "sharp edges" as well as well-rounded students. So sure, they want people who are involved in a lot of stuff, but they're also looking for some kids who are really passionate and brilliant in one particular area. I think as long as you showed some passion in your essays, you demonstrate your "edges" well. :)

My post was entirely tongue-in-cheek. You clearly have a very good chance, and I would be very surprised if anyone has ever been rejected from Princeton solely for receiving a single B+ in the course of high school. Sorry if that was unclear, I thought I made it absurd enough to come across.

haha werg..

yeah i'd have to disagree with the non-wellroundedness.. i think your EC's are exactly what you are passionate about.. so why would you have to get involved with stuff that you aren't passionate about. great chance

@TheWerg: don't worry--no offense taken :)
