What are my chances?

I know my SAT Score is low I have only taken it once and I was sick I would hope to get between 1800-1900 after taking a prep class.

Alabama fortunately lists the requirements for SAT/ACT and GPA on its scholarship site. That site will give you a specific amount of scholarship money you will receive if you post the required scores/GPA. You might also apply, once accepted, for the honors college, international honors and computer-based honors programs. The computer-based program has full and partial scholarships. Some of the departments also have scholarship money, including the engineering department. Hope this helps.

Bump pleasee anyone else think i have a chance???

follow momreads advice and go to [The University of Alabama](http://www.ua.edu)

as long as you meet the deadline for scholarships you will automatically be considered for these: right now your sat is too low therefore suggest you try the ACT (there is one in September, you would probably need to pay a bit extra as i think you would now be late for registering but some people find the act is a better test for them…my son does better on act than sat) and re-sit the sat as soon as it is offered, i think ua will take the october sat for use in scholarships good luck

Capstone Scholar

An out-of-state first-time freshman student who meets the December 1st scholarship priority deadline, has a 27 ACT or 1210-1240 SAT score and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will be selected as a Capstone Scholar and will receive $1,500 per year ($6,000 over four years).
Collegiate Scholar

An out-of-state first-time freshman student who meets the December 1st scholarship priority deadline, has a 28-29 ACT or 1250-1320 SAT score and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will be selected as a Collegiate Scholar and will receive $3,500 per year ($14,000 over four years).
UA Scholar

An out-of-state first time freshman student who meets the December 1st scholarship priority deadline, has a 30-31 ACT or 1330-1390 SAT score and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will be selected as a UA Scholar and will receive 2/3 tuition for four years.
Presidential Scholar

An out-of-state first-time freshman student who meets the December 1st scholarship priority deadline, has a 32-36 ACT or 1400-1600 SAT score and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will be selected as a Presidential Scholar and will receive the value of out-of-state tuition for four years.

Bumpppppppp

Bumpppppppppp

dude. it is all spelled out on the website.

OK. Since you cant seem to be able to go to the website and read it yourself, the answer to your question is, NO. You do not qualify for a scholarship.

For your information CATDADDY I did check the website and I just wanted other peoples opinion… So whatever your problem is, why don’t you take it to another thread… K thanks :-)

^^^^^Well I hate to pile on but it’s pretty black and white on the website.

people’s opinions don’t matter.

SAT of 1000 wont qualify for scholarship $$.

If you can raise your SAT to the 1800-1900 level as you believe you can, yes, you should qualify for some scholarship money. Unfortunately, as good as your GPA is, there are thousands of kids with a 3.9 GPA on their transcript. Alabama is one of those schools looking for a combination of GPA/SAT. Much good luck.

1800-1900 is still probably not going to be enough for full tuition or 2/3 tuition. and for us, without one of those, DD will have to stay in state.

i recommend taking the ACT as lots of people do better on it. but if you do, go ahead and prepare ahead of time by taking practice tests. time is the killer factor on the ACT.

So, are you going to retake the SAT and/or ACT?

if so, be sure to meet the deadlines for SAT and ACT for scholarship consideration. I think the latest score UA accepts for scholarships are Nov for SAT and …Oct for ACT…please correct me if I’m wrong.

And…it doesn’t matter what others’ opinions are…UA uses the formula for scholarships…you either have the stats and receive the $$$…or you don’t. It doesn’t matter that you’re GPA is higher than what is needed.

Out of state students must meet higher standards…in-state students only need an ACT 30 & 3.5 GPA to get full tuition.

Don’t forget…UA only includes math and critical reading for SAT scores.

dude, what kind of school do you go to where a median SAT score equates to a near perfect GPA?

Buddy… >>> dude, what kind of school do you go to where a median SAT score equates to a near perfect GPA? <<<<

Are you asking how his school manages to have students with nearly 4.0 GPAs who score in the median SAT range? Well, that happens EVERYWHERE…it’s called grade inflation…which is why colleges like to see ACT or SAT scores, too. I have come to be very skeptical when parents say…“my kid is ‘straight A’s,’ so I’m expecting him to get a great scholarship”… I’m skeptic because when you ask the parent how the child has been scoring in standardized tests, often the kid has been routinely scoring in 60-75 percentile…and will likely do so when he takes the SAT or ACT…certainly not high enough for good scholarships.

Also, people can “game” their GPAs by carefully selecting their courses.

at my school, all of the kids with 4.0s, me included, have scores of at leas 2000 on the SAT.

^^^ That’s how it was at my sons’ private school, too…

If I was running a high school and my 4.0 students were scoring in the mid range SATs, I’d be very concerned about the quality of my school.

However, the OP may just be a slow test taker which lowers his score - slow test takers tend not to finish the sections.
