Hi, I’m stressed about the application I sent to Stanford, my dream school. I have somewhat strong stats, but I’m hoping my writing, story, ECs, passion, and leadership will pull me through. I’ll try to keep it concise; I appreciate any serious feedback!

ECs:
- Junior State of America - devoted tons of time with ample state and local leadership positions involving politics and government.
- Mock Trial - lawyer and voted MVP
- Equestrian - dedicated athlete with numerous awards to show for it. (Stanford has a dressage team as a club sport)

Other community service:

So my essays were about my brother’s illnesses and chaotic family life that have forced me to rise above my circumstances and make something of myself. They also directly relate to my passion- medicine, which was evident. In my questions, I expressed my intellectual vitality, personality, and engagement adequately I feel.
My teacher recommendations I believe show how I demonstrate intellectual vitality, but my weaknesses were my absences, and I have no way of knowing what they wrote.
With that GPA, Stanford is a high reach without 1-in-1000 extracurriculars. Their acceptance rate is 5%, so tens of thousands of strong applicants are rejected each year.
With your GPA they’ll throw your application out. They look for top academic quality, 4.0’s, very high ACT and SAT. Sorry but you don’t really stand out academically. Which is very important to them. Also your EC’s are kind of boring they don’t have much to them, same with your volunteer work. Babysitting diabetic children isn’t considered special it’s just babysitting. Same with hosting an exchange student if you were one that would be better but being a host won’t help you much.
Sorry but ivies are not a good match for you. You are a great candidate for tons of other good colleges.
don’t listen to these people, Stanford will look at your passions above all and your GPA and SAT/ ACT scores are just another small factor into it all. If you show you have Really a lot of passion, stanford will see that and maybe disregard your GPA. I am in a similar situation, but intstead of a bad GPA , i got a horrible ACT. I am a very passionate and motivated individual and hope to still make it through
GPA is definitely on the low side. My GPA has been the main weakness of my application many times and it has cost me admissions to my ED School. But then again, you never know how college decisions can turn out. Make sure you have something special that can make you stand out from the rest of the applicants.
Chance me back please if you have time?

Your application has been submitted. “Chancing” you at this stage is meaningless.
Your ECs are nice - above average, with some distinctiveness. Your GPA and test scores are weak - well below average for Stanford. That is tough to overcome, though not unheard of. It sounds like you put a lot of effort into your application, and perhaps that will show. Only the Adcom’s opinion matters.
Regardless, you shouldn’t hold your breath for Stanford. There are lots of great places where you would do well.
My ECs, while I kept it brief here, are actually not boring. I reach out to politicians, advocate for policy regarding youth, organize state events that host over 1000 students, have attended residential summer programs through this organization taking college honors courses at both Stanford and Georgetown. Additionally, I wrote about how I saved my diabetic brother’s life and how my time in the hospital while he had cancer awakened my passion for medicine. I am hoping that these things will pull me through.
my friend has a 35 ACT, a 99.67 average, and was on the national winning mock trial team and didn’t get in. She applied ED as well,
