I’ve been reading through a lot of the forums on college confidential and I’m astounded by the depth of knowledge these forums possess. Since that’s the case, I’d like to know if I stand a good chance for the colleges I’ve applied to.
For all of the colleges that I’ve listed, I’d like to also mention I am applying for their computer science programs. What I’d also like to know besides my chances of getting in is also the chance of me obtaining full tuition or full ride to any of these institutions.
Here are my stats:

[] Hooks (if any): None really unless being and ORM (Over-Represented Minority) counts… That and the fact I support my family by working in their restaurant right after school 6 out of 7 days a week. I don’t know if that really impacts the admissions decision however I did incorporate that aspect in some of my admission essays.

That “the depth of knowledge these forums possess” is true except for the “Chances” forums. That is just other high school kids and a few parents guessing your chances. The “chances” are little more than wild guesses, especially when you are talking top universities. I don’t know about those colleges really, but you sound like a solid applicant. Best of luck wherever end up.
I appreciate the honesty of your post, although I’m kind of hoping someone more knowledgeable than myself might come across this that recently got into any of these institutions and can support their statement with some factual basis. What I’m trying to say is, the reason why I posted this wasn’t to simply inflate my ego or hear things I’ve already heard, it was to gather more information that I might not have taken into consideration.
Overall I think you’re a great applicant with your SAT. However, a 3.7 UW GPA is not jaw dropping (I’m in the same shoes as you) So I have to ask what are your courses? Are they the most rigorous your school can offer? But assuming you did take the most challenging courses:
Boston University: low match
Georgia Institute of Technology: dont know
Johns Hopkins University: mid to high reach
New York University: low match
Northeastern University: low match/safety
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute: dont know
Stevens Institute of Technology: dont know
SUNY Stonybrook University (The Honors College/University Scholars Program): safety (you’ll get in the honors)
University of Southern California: mid to high reach
Washington University in St. Louis: idk

Exactly! I’m thinking the same thing. The SAT score could’ve been a bit better but it’ll suffice. However my GPA isn’t exactly amazing, rather I was a lazy idiot in 9th grade (3.3) GPA. However I quickly realized just how bad my grades were in comparison to everyone else causing me to earn a 4.0 GPA in 11th grade.
My courses as of senior year consists of the hardest classes in my school.
AP Calculus
AP Statistics
Honors Physics
AP U.S History
AP Literature and Composition
AP Psychology
In my high school we aren’t allowed to take AP classes until senior year. But yes these are the hardest classes offered at my school as my school doesn’t exactly have a variety of AP classes. As you can you see the only class I don’t have as of this year is AP Physics and it’s Honors instead because the amount of people who end up taking the class isn’t large enough so they got rid of the class altogether. But all in all I did take the most challenging classes my high school offers.
