What do you mean @jupiter98
GPA too low.
Be realistic, your stat may make you a little hard getting in Pitt main campus. Pitt is one of the more selective university.
I think the average act for Penn State last year was 27 and GPA is 3.6, so it definitely is a reach school for you. Not sure about how competitive the journalism and communications department is. Everyone should have a few reach schools, but know it isn’t a sure thing.
The response above, from mom2, seems to answer your question.
Regional campuses have lower requirements

If you do well, you can request a transfer to the main campus after freshman year.
You’ll likely be offered a branch campus because your GPA and test scores are too low for University Park admissions.
You could check DUS, apply directly to the summer session, include your resume and an essay, all of this before Nov 30. Definitely choose an alternate campus.
Penn State does not take letters of recommendation.
apply now, your odds are very good.
I hate to be rude…well actually I don’t mind sometime, but not sure what you are looking for…you have received multiple responses to your multiple posts asking the same question and you could find the middle 50% of acceptances in multiple places. If you are looking for someone else to chance you, I will go with very, very doubtful. Hope that helps.
Average ACT for Engineering is something like 31-34, so your are too far outside that as far as test scores go. Look at the accepted freshman profiles on UIUC’s site and you can compare your stats. Your GPA is also not as high as the typical accepted student. If there were AP classes offered in your school and you did not take any, having only honors classes is better than none but won’t help you, especially with your GPA. As you know, UIUC does not consider teacher recommendations (I think you just cut and pasted this from another board). This may not be what you want to hear but should be expected if you looked into the stats of the school.
@jupiter98, if OP has already applied to Pitt main campus I don’t think he or she can also apply to regional campuses. But on the Pitt app you can put your first choice campus and any other ones you would be interested in if you don’t get accepted to first choice.
Are your grades higher for first quarter senior year? If so you might want to send them to Pitt.
The earlier you apply, the better chance you have.
GPA might be your downfall. Nothing you can really do about it now though, so just apply and see what happens.
I think you have a decent shot. You’re slightly below their average for both ACT (25 vs 23) and GPA of 89% (3.3) vs. your 3.1. If you do indeed score 1700-1800 on your SATs you’d be in better shape (their average is ~1665). What you have going for you is that they have a high acceptance rate (>60%), you’re male (43/57 ratio), and you’re from the mid-west (71% come from NYC and the 2 surrounding counties). Check out their fact book for more info. http://www.stjohns.edu/sites/default/files/documents/ir/fact-book/fall_2014_student_section_0.pdf
You need to be at the high side of admissions averages since your are OOS. There is tremendous competition at UGA and GT because Georgia residents with high stats get their tuition paid by the state, this encourages higher performance for state residents.
There is a 70% acceptance rate. A rock could get in. You will get in.
Haha @NikiMinjeFan2222
Not likely to happen. Make sure you apply to lower tier schools.
Thank you so much @mjrube94
UCLA requires either a 3.3 or 3.4 GPA for consideration from OOS students…you’d be an auto-reject.
I don’t think you understand…writing a good essay or listing ECs will not compensate at these schools. Listing ECs will just suggest that you preferred ECs over school work.
