Chance Me for Top Schools! Thanks :)

bumpppppppping it up

Not much depth because you’re only a sophomore but you definitely have a strong academic background which will provide for a competitive basis at any listed school. Once you do your EC’s for more years and get more leadership positions and really develop a certain passion that’s evident on your apps I think you will have a good shot at any of these schools. It’s hard to say for crapshoot ones like Harvard but you definitely have a chance! Good luck.

Seems like an impressive amount/quality of EC’s for a sophomore. I think you will have a shot, if you can keep it up through junior/senior year.

bumpppppppppppp

your sat is crappy. get it to 2300+ and you have a 20% chance

your colleges are all based on rank. Have fun and do what you like. Worry about this next year.

You are definitely on the right track! GPA and course load looks fantastic, scores look promising, everything. Remember though that 9/10th grades are the easiest, so be prepared for somewhat if a shock the next two years. If you stay on this path there’s no reason you shouldn’t apply (and probably earn acceptance) to most of those schools

bumppppppppppppp

First of all, kudos to you for getting a head start on the college application process! Being a Junior, I have been seeing many of the seniors at my school get accepted into college over the past few days. Seniors at my school with GPAs and SATs similar to yours have gotten into UPenn, Harvard, Brown, Vanderbilt, and the likes. So, no worries!

One thing I’d mention in your college apps are awards/recognitions you’ve received (sorry to state the obvious…I’m just basing all of this off your post). You’re definitely a leader, so may be you could talk about the different types of leadership each of the activities you’re involved in call for. I mean, from what I’ve learned, leadership isn’t about being controlling, it’s about initiating and gathering people together to support a cause/achieve a particular goal.

But, really, if you keep going on the same track, you’ll be golden for college! All the best!

Wow! Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and advice! It means a lot. I struggle with confidence in myself, so it helps to know that what I’m doing is worthwhile and what I can do to improve for the future.

Besides improving scores I’m sure you’ll get into at least one or two top schools. You EC’s are really good. What piano pieces do you play?

my piano story is quite interesting… so i stopped playing three-four years ago (after playing for 5-6 years) and just started again so i’m really crappy right now!!! i’m working on a few burmuller pieces, bach sonatinas, and this really awesome hungarian dance piece that i love. but i’m like way behind in piano… i’ve been practicing like crazy though!

Awesome awesome is the hungarian dance piece by Brahms? I had to play a duet for that. You should try hungarian rhapsodies! Those are my favorites.

yeah i think so!!! and thanks, i’ll keep that in mind. always searching for new pieces to play!

wow you’re only a sophomore, but i think you have a good shot at those schools if you continue working hard in your classes, doing well on the SATs, and remaining consistent with your ECs. also make sure to begin learning how to write your essays early because it’s a major factor in the college process! also build good relationships with your teachers for good rec letters (but dont let this be your primary incentive for doing so lol)

also could you chance back? i’d really appreciate it
