Currently a Junior!

Demographics: Chinese, Male

Location: Minnesota

GPA: 3.98 Weighted GPA: 4.76 Ranked 3/369

APs: US History, Calc BC, Physics I, Literature, Human Geo, Macroecon, Chem, Government (I plan on taking Physics II, Comp. Sci, Psych, and possibly Lang next year)

Courseload this year:

AP Lit, AP Gov, AP Macroecon, Multivariable and Vector Calc, AP Human Geo, AP Chem, Symphonic Winds (Honors Band), French III Honors w/ all As so far

ACT: 33 (33 English, 35 Math, 27 Reading, 35 Science, will be retaking since this is from freshman year)

SAT: 770 math, 640/610 reading/writing (really old—like 8th grade, will retake)

PSAT: 1500

EC’s: Swim Team (9), Sci Oly (9), Math League (9, 10 , 11), NHS (11), Volunteering at the public library, Soccer (9, 10, 11), Part-time job (11)

Don’t really have many awards but I was in the top 50 in state for Math League last year (as well as being on a top 10 team) and have a National Laureate award for the National French exam both freshman and sophomore years and a bunch of scattered middle school crap (pretty sure they dont matter at all lol).

Interested in how I’d do applying to my dream schools of Stanford, Caltech, MIT, Harvard? (I know these would really be pushing my luck)

I see a possible red flag with the ECs not continued beyond 9th grade. Some schools may wonder why you didn’t stick with the activities and may question your dedication/commitment.

Don’t put down middle school ECs-they don’t matter at all.

I’m confused with the classes taken list. Did you already complete Calc BC as a sophomore and did you take the AP test? Same with AP Physics 1 and APUSH.

Add some safeties/matches (University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, UIUC). Your current list is too reach heavy. You are in the dreaded demographic (Chinese male) so the schools on your list can end up as rejections.
