Haha all your A’s and APs are making my head spin! But actually, you are certainly academically qualified for any top school. You also seem quite well rounded with your ecs. Just wondering, what instrument do you play? And do you play it well enough to be noticed by princeton? I don’t know about columbia, but one of my not so academically competent friends got into princeton solely on her viola/violin skills. I would work on the community service, maybe focus on something in a possible field of study? That would be good! Make sure to show your passion for something, write compelling essays, and you have a great shot! Best of luck!
Chance me back?

Thanks for the feedback. I play trumpet in band and violin in orchestra but I have only been playing violin for 2 years and never had formal training in trumpet so I consider myself average. Unfortunately, academics interfere too much for me to have enough time to practice :(

honestly I think you would have a difficult time at princeton and other top schools. While your stats are excellent, your profile is classic asian and lacks any true “hooks”.

EDIT: oh, you’re almost certainly in at northwestern.

Academics are ok; enough to keep you a viable candidate initially (as long as you took the most rigorous course load). But the ECs are pretty meh. It’s just a bunch of random clubs…seems to be more breadth than depth. There is no clear focus or passion in ECs, nothing that really stands out about you. Given this, Princeton, Columbia, MIT, and Caltech are pretty high reaches. The other schools you listed would be varying degrees of reaches.

Reaches: Princeton, Chicago, Penn, Cal Tech and MIT
Reaches but good chances: Vanderbilt, Northwestern and Rice

Wash U: I think you will be waitlisted unless you are a full pay.

Well my two passions are basically science and performing music. Which is why I am a member of band, pit orchestra, pep band, orchestra, etc. My intended major is either chem or astrophysics (2 ends of science). For science, I participate in science league, tutor chemistry, and took the NJ Science Merck Test.

You are certainly academically qualified. They are reaches for anybody, but write good essays and it will boost your chances greatly. I would recommend branching out more into science, only if possible. Get an internship if possible, or prepare for a competition. This will definitely help differentiate you from other kids. Good luck!
