Hello everyone,
First off, im new so im really sorry if this is not in the part of the forums it should be in.
Other than that, as the title implies, I want to see what you guys think about my chances in UBC ENGINEERING.
So far im a canadian-iranian(both citizenships and passports) living in iran going to a small school called the Tehran International School. I am an IB student and these are my averages for grades 11 and 12
Grade 11: As an IB student I took an extra 7th subject (Bio). However I didn’t study and got a pretty bad final score of 35 out of 42.
Grade 12: Here I did much better. I have predicted marks of 40 along with a 6 in Biology. In addition I have 4 HL subjects instead of the usual 3 (Math, Physics, Lit, and Chem).
SATs: I have taken the SATs and got 2050 or so. No SAT 2s
ECs: I can say that I am a FIDE rated player with a rating of 1400. I am also president of a 4-5 person chess club(school is small). However it has only gone on for 3 months.
I have also volunteered to assist my teachers and help my fellow students in Math, Physics, Literature, Economics and Chemistry.
I have also volunteered at a disabled people center for 50 hours or so.
I have made a coilgun and that is about it.
So what do you guys think. Do I stand a chance for UBC engineering (mechanical)?
