Hello! I’m a high school junior with ZERO engineering related extracurriculars, but I feel that my other extracurriculars are relatively strong and I’m dedicated to them. I know that engineering admissions are impacted, so I’m debating whether engineering is even worth it or if I should just apply to l&s. Could I get in on grades alone since NONE of my extracurriculars are engineering-oriented?
Schools: UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCSB (which focus more on stats… right)
In state, interested in computer science but that’s tentative
SAT: 2370
SAT Math II: 800
UC GPA: 4.61 (includes 1st semester junior year), expecting 4.67 after this year
5 on AP Stats, 4 on Euro, national merit semifinalist (1510)
School doesn’t rank
Current courseload: AP Lang, AP Calc AB, AP Chinese, AP Physics 1, AP US History
Extracurriculars: Not going to list all since they have nothing to do with my intended major, but decent enough – DECA president, National Economics Challenge and CTY summer econ course, and a ton of music-related extracurriculars including marching band section leader and flute teacher to elementary/middle school students and organizing concerts with nonprofits and 100+ volunteer hours through flute performances alone yay
Not trying to brag, I’m mainly concerned about how much my scores will help due to my lack of engineering ec’s. Thanks!
(sorry this is somewhat lengthy i’m kind of new but willing to chance back!)
