Hi All,
I’m a current high school senior from norcal applying to UC’s. I am applying to CS at most schools but Software Engineering at UCI and Data Science at UCSD. My stats are as follows.
Ehnicity/Gender: Indian Male
UC GPA: 3.81
SAT: 1440
Essays: really strong and personal (explain passion for cs and extenuating circumstances that caused poor sophomore performance)
EC: strong and relate closely to major (internships and nonprofits etc.)
Other: 1) 5 transferable community college classes taken in CS and related subjects.
2) Took subject tests but prob won’t submit
Would be grateful for any input/advice
You are applying to one of the most competitive and popular STEM majors at the UC’s. Although your SAT is within range for the majority of the UC’s, your GPA will impact your chances. 6 of the 9 UC’s have average UC GPA’s of 4.0+ (not major specific), you can expect CS to require higher than stats than the averages. CC classes will help your course rigor and hopefully you have some strong essays to go with your EC’s.
