Chance me for UC schools.

I am a sophomore in HS right now and I go to an extremely competitive highschool (in the top 15 schools in my county as there are over 300 schools in the area; not trying to brag, just trying to give some perspective). I am planning on applying to a good amount of UC schools(UCLA, UCB, UCSB, UCSD, and UCI) and also a couple private universities(like stanford and USC as they offer good need-based financial aid)

I did mediocre freshman year, but since most of the schools listed above don’t consider freshman grades heavily, I won’t list my freshman grades.

My predicted final GPA for this year on the UC scale(based on last semester’s performance) should be:
UW: 3.75
W: 4.25
(Our school tells us that our GPA is somewhat deflated because of our hellish teachers, but that colleges will consider us within the context of our piers’ performance.)

My PLAN score was a 27/32 and my PSAT score was around 1300/1520.(I will start preparing for them later this year, so my scores will most likely improve as I have done little to no preparation for the tests.)

My current ECs are:
Model U.N. , School Newspaper(editor), Stage Crew(our school has won quite a few film festivals), Basketball(JV), Golf(V), Leader of a Club, member of diversity committee(we plan diversity events), Boyscouts(Getting close to becoming an eagle scout, yay!), and I also run a feed-the-homeless program through my boyscout troop.

(p.s. my school doesn’t give class ranks because my entire grade is less than 110 ppl)

Thanks,

All anyone can say right now is you are on the right path with your grades. Do some test prep and continue with your EC’s and look for some leadership positions. UC’s do not consider rank but they do consider if you are ELC eligible.

No one can accurately chance you at this stage, because you only have one semester’s worth of letter grades out of the 4 from 10th-11th grades that will count for UCs.

If I were to maintain my current gpa, or even improve it, throughout the next few years. How would you chance me? Thanks a ton!

Still need test scores to give you an accurate assessment. You are doing well with your grades, so keep it up. Take a rigorous HS schedule, aim for a High ACT/SAT (32+/1400+) and with your EC’s you want quality not quantity. For the UC’s and USC, take a look at the Freshman profile to get an idea of the stats needed. For Stanford, there is no way to chance anyone since it is a lottery school, so do your best and apply.

Thanks for the info, have a great week.

you seem like an average candidate, not too extraordinary though; good EC’s. depending on your major, i think you have a shot!

work hard junior & senior years, your resume and stats will change/improve more than you think

Thanks for the info!
