I applied to UCLA and UCB as a mathematics major, do you know anything about switching from mathematics to environmental engineering at UCLA and UCB.
For UCB:
Admission via a change to the College of Engineering is very competitive and highly unlikely, and students should not count on admission through this method. Through direct freshman and transfer admissions, we admit the maximum number of students possible each year. Students interested in studying Engineering at UC Berkeley should apply directly to the college as freshman or transfer applicants. Please contact an academic advisor to determine if a change of major is possible
For UCLA here is the link but again highly competitive with no guarantees. https://www.seasoasa.ucla.edu/ls-to-engineering/
I’m sorry to be asking something everyone probably knows, but what is weighted/capped, how do you figure it out and which schools look at it?
The UC’s look at 3 UC GPA’s: Unweighted, Capped Weighted and Fully Weighted.
Only 10-11th grades for the a-g courses are used for the UC GPA calculation. You get 1 extra Honors point for any UC approved Honors, AP, IB or DE course taken 10-11th grades.
UC approved Honors courses are only for in-state CA HS students. OOS Honors courses do not get the extra weighting.
Capped weighted= Maximum 8 semesters of Honors points
Fully weighted= Unlimited semesters of Honors points
If you are on a Yearly, Trimester or Quarterly schedule then the # of Honors points will be different.
Here is the link: GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub
I like the RogerHub UC GPA calculator which does ask what grading system is present at your HS.
