Chance me for UCLA? (GPA only)

Hi everyone,

My UC GPA is: 4.00 (unweighted), 4.58 (weighted). The problem is in freshman year I did really bad, had 1 c+, (3.61 GPA). But 10 and 11th grade I pulled it together and did really well. My class rank (9-12) is low because of freshman year, so my question is based on just GPA will UCLA most likely admit me?

We can’t help you with just GPA unfortunately.

Need SAT/ACT scores, intended major, EC’s and HS course rigor before you can be chanced. Your GPA looks competitive but admissions is not just GPA (although a huge part). Essays are very important also, so spend time and make them great.

UC’s don’t care about 9th grade GPA so you’re fine.
UCLA is becoming more holistic in its admissions with over 110,000 people applying last year, so just GPA is not nearly enough to be accepted.

Although the 9th grade does not contribute to your UC GPA directly, however, the freshmen year grades still will be reviewed. That is where your other accomplishments may neutralize that C adverse effect! So try to make up with good essays and great scores!

It’s good to have an upward trend though but I agree with the comment that it’s still reviewed. Same with number of APs and honors are capped for the UC GPA but course rigor still counts.

thanks for the responses
