Hey! There’s no reason to worry too much now, as the applications have already been submitted. The only thing we can do now is wait, so just relax! Whatever happens, happens—it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get in.

However, I can still try to chance you to the best of my ability.

Your GPA seems pretty good. Your test scores are in the range (I believe), but are probably not going to give you much advantage, as they aren’t on the higher side. Your numbers are good, but not outstanding.

You seem to have really solid extracurriculars that you love, which is awesome. However, I did notice that majority that you listed are related to music… I can definitely see that you are passionate about music, which is great, but it would’ve been good to also see other types of involvement, like leadership in clubs, playing sports, etc. I also do wonder if you put things down for volunteer and work experience?

Your awards are alright, but again, nothing outstanding.

I’ll take your word that your essays are awesome, though. I think you have a chance for sure, but UCLA is still a reach. I believe UCLA highly cares about GPA and senior year coursework (although they don’t see your senior GPA sadly, as you did very well). You have a decent GPA and great senior courses, so I think that’s a plus.

From what you’ve presented, I obviously don’t have the whole picture of you. However, you seem like a pretty good applicant. I feel that with higher stats, your chance would be a lot better. We really don’t know, though… for all we know, you knocked your essays out of the park and that makes up for other things to them.

It’s a reach, but certainly not impossible. All we can do is wait for March. Don’t get too caught up on one school… there are plenty of other fine schools. Best of luck to you!

The problem is you applied to the college of engineering, and they likely won’t consider you for the college of letters and sciences for a back up major. Did you apply to UCI too?

After entering your stats, Prepscholar website gives you a statistical chance of 7.58%. Not great

I’d agree with Copperline that your stats might be a little low for the major you applied to. You’ll find out in March.
