Chance me for UC's and 2 Cal States. Low GPA/semi competitive SAT score.

Hey guys I’m a current Senior in California
South Asian Male (Bangladesh)
First Generation
GPA: 3.8750 weighted, 3.5417 Unweighted
Class Rank:130/644 (9-12) 95/644 (10-12) 34/644(12) (highly competitive large school in the city)
SAT: 1340
SAT II: Biology E:710 (self prep) / Math 2:780
Never took AP Biology, only honors Biology freshman year.
AP courses completed so far:
-Physics 1-2
-US history-4
-Psychology-5
APs- This Year
-Economics
-Government
-Calculus AB
Standard Exceeded for both English and Math sections on the CAASPP (11th grade)
Since I took 7 courses for 3 semester instead of the usual 6, I will have over 40 credits completed than the requirements to graduate.
The only reason why my GPA is low is because I did not have the best start to high school. Started with a 2.6 GPA first semester of high school and finished junior year with a 4.3 GPA. Five week report cards have come out for senior year and I currently have a 4.5 GPA.
My intended major is something within the brain and behavior or even such as Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Biopsychology, Cognitive Science, and Psychology.
I do plan to pursue Medical School.

Oh and would applying as a psychology major over neuroscience (if offered) affect my chances of admission?

UC’s only use 10-11th grades in their GPA calculation so please post capped weighted and fully weighted GPA:

https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

SLO uses 9-11th grades instead of the 10-11th grades so use the same calculator but add in 9th grades. If you took Math such as Algebra/Geometry and any Level 1 Foreign language in Middle school these will be also used in their GPA calculation since they are reported on the Cal State apply application under 9th grades.

UCR and SDSU are the only ones from your list likely to accept you. I’d add an ap to UCSC, CPP and CSULB.

Good luck.

Are you interested in any privates?
You have a sort of low SAT score, at least 1450+ would give you a chance for all the UC’s. If you have time, please study and retake. You have a low GPA too, however it seems that you have a lower GPA freshmen year. Please calculate your UC gpa. You have decent EC’s and just focus on essays.
I think you can get into all CSU’s for your major but UC’s are harder. UCM, UCR, UCSC are your best bets. Apply to more schools that you think you can get into.
Good luck,

@Gumbymom @NCalRent @SREE33 I got accepted to UCI and UCSB. Waitlisted at UCSD. Rejected from UCLA. DId not retake SAT. Instead focused on my essays.

congrats!

Congratulations!!

congrats! where do you plan on going?

@SREE33 UCI for Cognitive Science!
