Test Scores:
ACT-30
SAT II Bio M-710
SAT II Math2c-670
AP Psych-5
AP Stats-3

ECs:
-250 service hrs(maybe 300)
-1 year JV HS football team
-1 year assistant coach for my HS freshman bball team (as a junior)
-Link Crew Leader
-Science camp counselor
-Did some volunteer work in India (not really with an organization, my aunt works for a gov. school)
-Scholar Athlete certificate (basically getting a good GPA while playing a sport)

For Additional Comments Section:
So I would say I'm a relatively strong math student. For example, I'm enrolled in AP Physics, Finite/Discrete Math, and AP Calc AB this year. All three of these courses are very math intensive and I am doing relatively well in all of them. Furthermore, I haven't received a grade less than an A in math since geometry freshman year.
HS Math:
9th:Geometry-B
10th:Alg2/Trig-A
11th:Pre-Cal-A
AP Stats-A
12th:AP Physics
AP Calc AB
Finite/Discrete Mathematics
Although I do well in classes, I managed to get a 670 on math IIc and a 27 on ACT math (30 composite). Would it be advisable for me to explain why I think these scores shouldn't be looked upon as harshly due to my record of math intensive courses? This would go in the third section for prompt on the UC app.

You seem like you have a good GPA relative to your school, since it is so competitive, and you seem to have taken a rigorous course load. So with that perspective, I think even if your GPA is about average at these schools, it shouldn’t hurt you at all.

Your ECs are a bit… normal. Nothing stands out too much. They are still good for these school though.

UCLA: low reach
UC Berk.: low reach
UC SD: match
UC SB: in/match
UC Davis: in/ match
UC Irvine: in

Additional comments isn’t a mandatory section, its mainly to explain things like taking a year off between high school and college etc.

Low reach, in my opinion means you aren’t necessarily in, because you might be on the lower end of their average, but you’re close enough to the average that there is a possibility you will get in.

Why do you say that your school is VERY competitive? A lot of students at my school take AP Physics and Calculus BC as juniors…so you taking Physics and AB as a senior while you consider yourself a strong math student is strange. Also, it seems that your school has a lot of grade inflation. Can you estimate where you stand in class rank? Like top 10%, top 20%, etc.

I’m around 25% for class rank. Our class ranks went unweighted and I was 25% with a 3.8…and by very competitive I mean we have been I believe within top 50 public high schools in US, all Asian and Indian people here mostly. Also our students compete and place very highly in physics and math teams in the country, and I believe some have been selected for our national teams.

relatively strong in math…with a 670 in math 2 subject test i’d say you’re average
dont get me wrong you could be passionate for it but it doesn’t show you’re strong at it
Berk - Reach
LA - Reach
SB - Match
SD - High Match
Irvine - Match

(reason for my comment above is because i’m a math only kinda guy myself (730 Math 2, 790 SAT Math) + 5 on AP Calc BC (5 AB Sub) scores) and my math courses over high school were all weighted, geometry, accelerated algebra 2/precal in one year, ap calc ABC, and now IB Math my senior year)
grades are one thing, doing well on standardized tests are another

So you’d recommend leaving additional comments blank? The only stress added to me recently was my dad’s loss of a job. That got to me pretty bad.
