II) Conditions of the Guarantee:

To qualify for the Fall 2010 TAG, you must:

Apply for admission to UCSB during the application filing period for fall 2010 (November 1-30, 2009). There is no additional paperwork to submit to qualify for this agreement.

Complete the required courses in English composition (two courses designated as UC-E on the UC-Transferable Course Agreement) and mathematics (one course designated as UC-M on the UC-Transferable Course Agreement) with C grades or better by the end of fall 2009 for fall 2010 admission.

Complete at least 60 UC-transferable semester units by the end of spring 2010 for fall 2010 admission.

Complete four courses selected from among at least two of the following three areas with C grades or better in each course by the end of spring 2010 for fall 2010 admission:.

1. Arts and Humanities (designated UC-H on the UC-Transferable Course Agreement)
-
Behavioral and Social Sciences (UC-B on the UC-Transferable Course Agreement)
-
Biological and Physical Sciences (UC-S on the UC-Transferable Course Agreement)
- NOTE: The UC-Transfer Course Agreement is available online at Welcome to ASSIST. Consult your counselor concerning credit earned through examinations or other colleges and universities.

Complete the last 30 of your 60 or more UC-transferable semester units in residence at a California community college (you may complete summer session course work at an institution other than a California community college without jeopardizing your residency status).

Earn a minimum GPA of 3.00 in all UC-transferable course work completed by the end of fall 2009 for fall 2010 admission. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00 through the end of spring 2010.

For the College of Letters and Science TAG, the following majors require completion of specific major preparation course work:

* Biological Science majors: Aquatic Biology, Biochemistry-Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, Cell and Developmental Biology, Ecology and Evolution, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Zoology
-
Economics majors: Economics and Accounting, Business Economics, Economics, Economics-Mathematics
-
Computer Science majors: Computer Science-Computational Biology Emphasis, Computer Science-Computational Economics Emphasis, Computer Science-Computational Geography Emphasis

Decisions are made after winter grades. Since the TAG does not require any additional documents for UCSB you stand a pretty good chance IF and ONLY IF you pull the 3.0 gpa, because then the only thing that you are missing is completion of the math course by fall. If you had done math this fall you would have been in 100% if you had the GPA.
I would say 75% in

i’ve heard the only look at your fall grades and nothing else.
im totally confused now :(

who said that, why would they have you update and have decisions come out in april?

Sorry, but its not looking good. If your grades this semester bring your gpa up to above a 2.9 or 3.0 that will definitely help. Also, not having your math course completed doesn’t look good either, so I would make sure to have that done by the spring semester.

math doesnt matter for him, it is not a major prep, and you have to have the general education math courses completed by spring which the poster said they would.

If UCSB doesnt even require a TAG to be signed and the poster is meeting almost all the TAG agreements he doesnt have guranteed admission but he stands a GOOD chance at admission- meaning well over 50% since he is missing just the 1 math course- once again this is all continginent on the poster raising his GPA to that needed 3.0

So chances actually look good if the gpa is competative.

I would say:

Riverside: In
SB: chance/bit of a reach
Santa cruz: in
SD: chance/bit of a reach
UCI: reach

Good luck!

thanks guys!
just to clarify tho they do look at winter grades?
if so than i should have a 3. something by the end of winter session.
and do the uc’s look at the personal statement? i put a TON of work into it, and i personally think its one of the best things i’ve written

Of the schools you applied to, UCI is the only one that will consider the personal statement in evaluating your application:

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/resources/materials/documents/09trmatrix.pdf

Unfortunate, isn’t it? I thought I did great on my personal statement too and hoped it would raise my chances, only to find that UCSD won’t even look at it!
