Chance me for UF, USF, UT Austin, Georgia Tech, please?

SAT Scores (First Time): CR-740; Writing-750; Math-520; Overall-2010
Just took the SAT again in the hopes of improving my math scores, and I get the results this Thursday so I'm hoping my math improved greatly!

AP Language and Composition Exam Score: 5
Currently enrolled in AP Biology and AP US History

My current weighted GPA for this year is 4.33, so far, and 4.00 unweighted.
I don't know my cumulative, as I have been to three high schools and one of them (which I spent two years at) didn't include my GPA for those years, but I've estimated that it is about 3.52 (unweighted) based on some online calculator I found. By the end of this semester, though, it should rise as I plan to get all A's (and hopefully I will! :))

Honors: National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar
I've been on the Honor Roll multiple times over the years, but I don't know whether or not to count that.

EC:
JROTC: Freshman/Sophomore
Drill Team: Sophomore
Nanakuli Performing Arts Center Peformer: Junior/Part of Senior year
French Club: Senior
Church Choir Member: 1 year
CDC Assistant Teacher Volunteer: Senior
Various volunteering activities over my junior and senior year (so far), from LEO Club to NPAC events we hosted.

Ea? Rd???

I’m sorry, I don’t know what those mean. I’m brand new to the site forums, just signed up.

Early Action/ Regular Decision to these schools?

Hard to say with the unsure GPA.
I think Austin looks at rank?

GATech loves to see high Math scores :x

Oh, okay! Regular Decision for all of them.

My rank for junior year was 122 out of 651, and I won’t know my rank for my current school until December according to my counselor because I don’t go to the same school I did last year.

Darn! Hopefully my math score raised this time around!

Wellllll because I don’t know the other schools well, Georgia Tech will be a little hard. Your score is in the range but not their math range. But maybe they’ll overlook that… You can always apply and there’s a lot of time to get that math score up!

Let’s hope that GPA will be good too :D

I suggest taking the ACT? Seem’s like you got reading and writing down :)

Good Luck!

Okay, thanks!
I did take the ACT (forgot to post it) and got an overall score of 29. Science-24; Math-23; Reading- 36; Writing-36

Well you should know that just bumped up your GATech score up 60 points

GATech takes ACT English, ACT Math and ACT Eng/Writing and translates and then combines them with SAT Scores.

That “writing” I assume is English so 800(CR) , What’s your Eng/Writing? Math dang.

Really? That’s great!
I meant English, yes; my English/Writing was 31
Yeah, my math isn’t the best in the world, haha.

so CR(800), Writing(750), Math(520) = 2070

Not bad for GATech but still math is like a stain there. I laud you for your other two scores!

Okay, thank you! :)

USF (main campus) is a match :)

The challenge with UF will be your GPA (your test score and EC’s are fine). You’ll need to calculate your UF GPA (weighted). UF adds 0.5 points for honor classes, +1.0 points for AP/DE/IB/AICE classes. Your UF GPA needs to be close to a 4.0 or better.

[University of Florida - Admissions](Freshman - How To Apply - University of Florida)

Middle 50% of the UF 2013 Class

High School GPA of 4.1 - 4.4
SAT of 1780-2020
ACT of 26 - 31

GT used to weight GPA (+.05 for AP/DE/IB/AICE classes), but not this year (they use the GPA as it shows on your transcripts). As you can see, your scores are in line with the middle 50% (without really knowing your GPA), but you do need to improve your math score.

GT 2013 Freshman Class Profile:

Mid-50% GPA: 3.85 - 4.11
Mid-50% SAT: 2000 - 2210
Mid-50% ACT: 29 - 33
Average # of AP/IB/Dual Enrollment classes taken: 6 - 11

Good Luck!

Thanks! That was really helpful! :)
