Chance me please applying for class of 2016!!!

bump can someone please chance me

you’re in.

Ethnicity:American Indian (URM)

in

Really tough to say without the ACT score. You are by no means in yet. Get above a 30 though and with URM you’re probably looking good.

Michigan is not allowed by the law to practice affirmative action, so that will not help you, despite what other posters say.

But you’ll probably get in.

Thanks for all the responses. Hahalolk why can’t Michigan practice affirmative action? Is it becuase it is a public school, or is it the law?

Also how can I qualify for a full ride scholarship?

Any other chances? bump…

You’re American Indian…
they will pay you $50,000 just to go there

yeah, you’ll probably get some money. I mean regardless I think your stats are good enough to get in, but the American Indian thing puts it over the top

Get money for what? There are no American Indian scholarships at Michigan that I am aware of.

Being a Native American does not put you “over the top.” It literally does not affect you in any way. The Michigan Constitution makes it impossible for you to have an advantage due to affirmative action.

hahalolk, you are kidding right? No constitution on earth can deny Michigan the right to accept a student based on their overall profile, and that includes ethnicity. The constitution forbids Michigan from having a formula-approach to admissions or from assigning a specific weight to ethnicity, but you can bet that most top 50 universities will admit a qualified Native American student like the OP…and make sure their financial needs are met. That is how it should be as nobody is more “American” than the natives.

I’m sure his financial needs will be met, but that won’t be because he’s a Native American.

That’ll be a huuuuuuge part of it. I mean, no one is saying the OP isn’t smart or that he has no shot otherwise. But the american indian bit puts it over the top. All he could do to be better is to also be IS

you have a good chance! will you take the SAT or just the ACT?

Real2293: I will ONLY be taking the ACT and I am studying VERY HARD!! Taking the ACT in June 2011.

MLDWOODY: What is an IS student? Is it International Student?

IS = in state

Judging by your grades you’ll rock the ACT… I wouldn’t bother studying, or atleast not that hard

I am applying to other colleges as well and it never hurts for HIGH ACT score, gives me an oppertunity for some great scholarships.

I wish I was In-State, I think I would be accepted hands down, but being OSS there are other great canidates vouching for a spot at Michigan as well so you never know it can go either way.
