***My aunt had heart surgery at the UofM hospital in Ann Arbor where she spent 4 months in the ICU and I flew there every weekend and stayed there. I became very close with her surgeons and they ended up gving me homework help etc. I spent 4 months at UofM and feel a very strong connection to it. I have also been going to football games since I was little there. Would getting a referral from the UofM doctors help? should i write my essay on this? We also have a friend in my state that is an east coast admissions officer, would that help to have him write a refferal or maybe have an interview with him?
*was thinking of becoming a volunteer certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) would this help me to stand out?
please chance me:)
want to apply early action this november of 2016
Forgot to mention, next year I am taking:

Your personal connections to UofM should help, but your ACT is significant below the the mid 50% range and your GPA is significantly below average. It is tough to repair GPA now, but I would highly recommend retaking ACT or trying to score well on the SAT. Which state are you from (this can make quite a difference)? Yoru high school’s rigor should help you out. Make sure you really do well in those essays/supplements and present yourself as best as you can in the Common Application - and once again, consider retaking ACT or taking the SAT. I would also consider taking some SAT Subject Tests. I got into Michigan one year ago (Class of 2019) with a similar GPA, but higher standardized test scores with great extracurriculars (which I am sure you have too). I’ll be glad to answer any other questions you may have.
Thanks for the reply! I have a few other questions: what did you get on the ACT? And what is your major at UofM? Also, do you like the school and think it is a good fit for you? Do you think my weighted GPA will help? What was your GPA Wand UW in highschool?
Your chances aren’t amazing, but you could get in. A lot of kids apply from NJ. Get the ACT up to a 30. I don’t know how competitive the biology major is to get into. Your legacy and connections will help but the GPA especially junior year is a bad look. Work very hard on your essays, and get in touch with your admissions counselor
@pink1357 I replied to your PM with the questions you asked.
Can somebody chance me for early admission this fall? I’ll be applying to kinesiology.
