USC: Reach

USC: reach

Is there a way I could sell myself to be able to get in?

Definitely a reach. Try to bump up your GPA by 100-200+ points.

3.59 is it. It’s my senior year already. Do you think an interview will at least look good. I’m interested in their Business Administration Cinematic Arts dual degree program so maybe if I make it clear that I really really really want to do that program, it’ll look good.

I might have to be a transfer applicant if I can’t get in.

get like a 34

What about for SAT?

Bumpety bump

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/1213/USCFreshmanProfile2012.pdf

You need to view USC as a big reach. SC has become a very tough admit, your standardized test scores are below the 25th%-tile and your UW GPA is low compared to average - that’s a tough combination to overcome. On top of that, the BCA program is even more competitive. You might want to look at someplace like Chapman which also has an industry specific emphasis.

Damn, I bet if it was a 3.7 even, I’d have such a good chance. You think if I got the test scores up, it’d significantly boost my chances?

Yes, a higher UW GPA and test score will help, but the average admit is a 3.8/2140/31+; you’re going to need a massive jump from a 26ACT to move the needle.

Apply. Write the greatest essays you can, but be realistic about having other, less challenging, admissions options.

Good Luck.

All right thanks!

I can’t get my UW higher it’s my senior year, but I’m hoping I can get my SAT and ACT up.

Buda - bump.

Tip: don’t plan to take both the SAT and ACT. It looks like your SAT score is higher, so just focus on studying for that test and try to get over like 2200
