Gonna apply after this Fall for Business Administration

If my grades go perfectly this/next quarter, I'll have a 3.60 GPA. Realistically though, it'll probably be like a 3.50.. I should also mention I screwed up in one my Business pre-reqs (Got a C+ in Macroecon, don't ask)

As far as EC's, I'm President of my CC's Circle K club (C.K is the largest collegiate service organization in the world).

I should have a strong essay as well. I had a pretty rough time in high school, but managed to "bloom" more in college.

It may be hard to get into Marshall. If you apply undecided as your second choice then you’ll have better chance than with Marshall. And by prefectly does that mean a 4.0?

I applied with a 3.6 and didn’t get in. Depends on your courseload, EC’s, amount of credits complete, essay, and honestly your income. A 3.6 is competitive, but not a lock.

i think if you pull off a 4.0 that may help to show the committee that you just messed up in macroecon, and it wasnt something you couldnt handle… upwards trend is also very good

id say you have a shot, just you need to REALLY do well on your essay and then im hoping you have a lot of EC’s and stuff… your income may matter, but i doubt it as i know several ppl on here with EFC 0 that have gotten in to different schools, so :)

Well i know some people who are loaded who got into marshall with a 3.2 and 3.3. I’m not saying it’s a deciding factor, but with the economy and the fact they are a private school I wouldnt be surprised if they selected the more well off applicant rather than the poorer one in a tight race.

There goes Matt again on his USC bash since he was rejected. You don’t know anyone who has gotten into Marshall with a 3.2. No on on this site has gotten into Marshall with less then a 3.6. Stop lying to yourself to feel better. You don’t know if income is a deciding factor. You have no proof of anything. Please get over your rejection. It’s truly quite sad.

Could you try to take macroecon again and get a better grade? I know the first one won’t be “erased”, but they might look highly upon a much improved end grade? Not sure it is worth the risk to your GPA, but it’s just a thought.

USC is a need-blind school. The FA and admissions offices operate in complete independence. USC prides itself on this fact, so stop spreading stupid, unsubstantiated rumors.

AMorrison - yea i think you can but they would keep that old score too… i dont know exactly how it works… but at least it shows that you care about it and that you know it now and that you put down the effort to improve it instead of just slack and chill :)

i believe that all the time and effort you spend on improving is positive in their eyes :)

You guys need to chill out, and I dont like being called a liar. I go to Orange Coast College which is one of the highest transfer schools for USC, so anyone who says I’m making up these people are crazy. I had two people in my micoeconomics class get into USC with a 3.2 and 3.3 and they were going to Marshall. They both live in Newport Coast and have very wealthy parents.

Anyone who acts like money and legacy doesn’t affect who gets into USC is blind. It’s not a bad thing, but it does have an affect on the application. I mean do you guys live in SoCal? Do you not know how things work around here? If you don’t think a private institution who is looking at two even applicants looks at their financial need, then wow. Especially in this economy and the renovations they plan to do over the next couple of years, they are going to consider EVERYTHING about a student.

And honestly I have no hard feelings towards USC. I don’t get why people keep saying that to me on here. It’s a great university with a lot of great oppurtunities. I would be saying the same things now either way. Things probably worked out for the best for me because instead of spending $30,000+ on college I wont be spending anything. Also, why do people keep saying I’m bashing the school? I havent bashed the school once, but obviously some of you don’t have the best reading comprehension skills. Either that or you guys are just angry people.

To the OP, if you have a 3.7+ then you will have a good shot. If you have a 3.5 with a lot of EC’s and a good overall application then you have a chance. These things I’m saying are not deciding factors, but things I know they look at. If you are a good student though then you will have no worries.

Mex. 3.3 overall. Essay was based on my upward trend. Since last spring, I completed 56.5 units averaging a 3.91. But nonetheless, I am still poor.

I think people are bashing on you because of your attitude change towards USC. You were one of the first CC members to post questions on the USC thread.

I can assure you that those two applicants with a 3.2 or 3.3 got into their second choice of major. There hasn’t been a single post on this site where someone has gotten into Marshall with under a 3.6. I’m with Grey on this one. Again, you have no proof of USC basing their decisions on wealth. It’s really sad to see you fabricating stories of how USC takes an unlawful approach when it comes to acceptances. It’s also quite funny to see how you’re so determined to keep standing by your initial comment. Do you not see the multiple threads of students here receiving financial aid? Quit your whining, grow up and do us all a favor and stop posting in this thread.

I really feel bad for you. Instead of having a intelligent conversation on here or at least being friendly you continue to throw out insults for no reason. I am not fabricating any story. This board represents what? Maybe at most 100 accepted transfer applicants. Just because this board doesnt have stories like that doesnt mean my classmates didnt. I mean even waitington had a overall gpa of 3.3 and he posted in this thread.

I never once said that USC takes any type of unlawful approach to anything, I havent fabricated any stories, and I’m not whinning about USC. Actually I’ve praised the school multiple times, even in this thread.

Please grow up man. I mean, I feel bad for people like waitingonsc because he has to attend school with someone as foolish and close minded as you.

Do you have a reading disorder? Did you not see that I clearly stated that there were no applicants that were accepted to Marshall with a 3.2 or 3.3? So how is Waitingonsc an exception? Your really starting to **** me off. How does the link you provided prove anything? I stated that USC is need-blind just as Grey stated. Again, can you show us some real proof behind your theory? If not why are you fabricating stories? Oh, wait. Since you seem to know everything you must be right! Now I can see why you were rejected from USC. Like I said before. Do us all a favor and stop posting on this thread with your negative, USC rejection vibes. Not responding to anymore of your ridiculous comments.

Dude you seriously need to chill out. You talk to your mom with that type of mouth? Jk, but seriously chill.

I was just stating that waitingonsc got into SC with a 3.3, so is it that crazy to think other people got into Marshall with a GPA below a 3.4? I mean come on man. Students got into Marshall with lower GPA’s than the 3.6’s and 3.7’s.

Also in your second post you stated that USC was giving out a bunch of financial aid, and I proved that people werent too happy with the current finaical aid packages with the link (that was the point of the link). Also they arent need-blind, and if you believe that then oh well. I guess cops are always the good guys, and bad things dont happen to good people. Every school looks at ethnicity, sex, and income and takes it all into consideration. I never said it was a major deciding factor though. It’s something they look at though. Like with legacy, it used to be a very good thing to have. Almost as good as a high GPA.

I mean you are providing me with no facts, links, so if I’m fabricating stories then what are you? Do you want me to post their myspace pages on here so you can ask them? All you are saying that I’m wrong and have an attitude towards me for no reason. Shouldnt you be happy because you got into USC?? I mean lighten up

Also, why shouldn’t I post in here? Everything you are saying about my posts I can say about yours. Who made you the god of USC and this board? I never attacked your beloved school, I just said that USC looks at the complete student and you had a hissy fit. Go find some USC coed to hookup with or something and relaxxxx
