Let me know my chances of getting into USC

Alright, I am applying to the Marshall School of Business as a transfer student for the Fall 2008 term. My HS GPA was extremely weak (2.7) as I was going through a tough time with my fathers death. However, I turned it around in college and accumulated these stats so far:

Majors: Accounting and Business Administration
GPA: 3.79 (including 3 straight 4.0 semesters)
Units: 56.5
Marshall Prereq's: Business Calculus - A, English 2 - A, Microeconomics - A, Macroeconomics - B, Accounting 1 - A, Accounting 2 - A
Major Related Classes: 7 A's and 1 B
College EC's: Coach, Peer Counseling, Student Congress (currently running for VP), Program Board
HS EC's: HS basketball, HS football, 30 hours community service
Job: 20-30 hours per week
Awards: Spring 2007 President's List, Summer 2007 President's List, Fall 2007 President's List, Phi Theta Kappa and 2005 Basketball Sportsmanship Award
Recommendations: Extremely good rec's

So let me know, what do you think?

Oh yea, I will be applying to USC, Texas, Florida, Miami, Arizona State, San Diego State, SUNY Albany and University of San Diego. My residence is in NY and I'm going to Mohawk Valley Community College. Also, what do you think about this school list?

The avg. GPA for transfers last year was 3.7. I don't know if this applies to all transfers including Marshall, or just CAS. However, it looks like you're in good shape. Of course, nobody here can really say for sure.

One thing, though, is that I would caution you in applying to OOS public schools, since they tend to take fewer OOS applicants than in-state. I know this is the case with Texas.

I would say a descent chance.

as good as any.

no shot at sdsu oos, but if those are your stats i would guess your in at USC

USC- Reach
Miami- Slight Reach
USD- Slight Reach
Texas- Slight Reach
Florida- Match
SDSU- Match
Arizona State- Safety
SUNY Albany- Safety

i think you have a great shot at UT, as they dont even consider HS grades or standardized test scores for transfers. its all college gpa. McCombs is extremely hard to get into though

thank you for all of the responses. i appreciate the feedback.

USC accepts 19% of its transfers from out-of-state schools, but you need to realize that some of these are California students who originally went out of state to four-year colleges and now are transferring back.

Thus, the GPA needed for you is probably slightly above the average at the school--which is 3.7 overall and probably around 3.75 for Marshall. Thus, yours is a very difficult one to judge--but based upon the strong grades in the pre-requisites, the fact that you have already taken both accounting courses, and that the overall GPA is good, your chances should be pretty good--probably a match.

I think it's important to note that one of the classes bringing down my GPA was taken while in HS. Also, after this semester I plan to have a 3.85 GPA. Without that one class that I took in HS, it would be a 3.89. Thanks!

Since you have a lot of your major pre-reqs completed with A's, it'll help tremendously. In my opinion, you are for sure in.

Anyone want to bet money on it?

my chance for USC?
Major:anthropology(junior transfer)
76units total.
Did 3pre-req..(physical anthro A, cultural anthro A, archeology IP)
GPA:3.68
GE: 4/5 done.
some EC.
9W's(This is not good)

Dude, did you write in section 4 of the short answers? If you explain your withdrawals and have a good reason, then it wont bring you down as much. Like me, I have 4 withdrawals as well but 2 are physical education. I think that shows that I wasn't dropping tough courses to avoid them. I actually had to drop them because my responsibility has gone up considerably with my job and I have to make some sacrifices. Just explain nad I'm sure you would be fine.

i didn't really explain about it..... i drop my voice class
