I don’t know how BHP determines who gets accepted or not, but your stats are better than most I’ve seen, so I think you have a pretty decent chance. but BHP is pretty competitive so anything can happen.

Is it really necessary/possible to calculate your GPA to that many places?

i think so. my school uses the computer to do that for us. at some competitive schools the difference between val and sal can be .001 of a point. but that’s as exact of a GPA as it can get haha.

Actually, your stats are better than most for UT, but not for BHP.

Everyone I know (who’s stats I know) in BHP has better stats and a few who were rejected do, too. You never know, though, and you will be kicking yourself if you don’t apply. There’s always a chance you’ll make it. Otherwise, you could just go to McCombs and transfer in sophomore year.

I had better stats and I got turned down. Just saying. Maybe it was my recommendation letter though.

thanks all, I really appreciate everyone’s input!

anything I can doto increase my chances at this rate?

I’m applying this year.

It will be tough, but you should go for it. My son had higher stats, but little work/leadership experience and did not get in and I think that hurt him. Write great essays!!

I should also add that it actually worked out better for him the be in the business school and not the BHP. Whatever happens, it is not the end of the road!

thank you so much :)

Is BHP the same admission process as Mccombs? 75% by rank?

WHY TWO KAY, you will get in next year. My daughter got into BHP on her 2nd year with 4.0. So trying to keep you GPA up. You need 4.0 when you apply next year. So work hard.

BHP is more wholistic than the McCombs school in general. Though their average student will probably be from the top 1-2…% of the class, that is not a necessity. I got in with a 3.07% ranking after my midyear GPA revision. A friend of mine in the top 10 at my school was rejected from BHP, but will probably transfer in for next year.

Essays are very important. They do read all of them, and even remember some of them past the admissions process.

Leadership experience is important. Yours looks good, I hope you make president. I like your consistent involvement in civil service.

As people have said, “better” have been rejected, but that definitely not mean that you are without hope at all.

I would give you an even shot at it. WRITE WELL.

sorry to hijack thread, but does BHP require a separate essay than the UT application itself?

I don’t remember that being the case, but I did gear one of my essays to highlight corporate responsibility.

Of course, I think there is the honors application, but as has been said on various other threads that is not really an essay so much as a series of short answers about what you’re interested in and why that honors program.
