In my University they have an "Honors College" with you need a minimum GPA of a 3.5 to apply to, as well as taking 15 credits or more, and participating in clubs. Only 4.3% (1,300 of a total 30,000) of students in my college are in the Honors College.

My #1 choice is UVA, and this will be my 3rd time applying. I applied in High School and was denied. I applied for transfer of 08 and denied, and now applying for 09 transfer. I have my heart set on this school, but I also was wondering what are some other schools I could apply to. I'm interested in Berkeley and UPenn, but I don't know if I have the criteria to meet them, especially since I am out of state for Berkeley. Also, I know my SAT and High School stats are on the low side, but I am applying as a second year so hopefully they won't hold me down too much. Thanks in advance guys.

what college are you at now?

I'm currently at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). I'm in-state for UVA so I'm hoping with a 3.93, and 2nd year Transfer, I get in. Crosses Fingers

Just bumping this, please leave some feedback. :)

while your ec's look weak, you should nonetheless have a very good shot at uva...what are you looking for in a college?

Yeah, I know my EC's aren't that great, but I'm not very happy at my current University, so I pretty much only focus on studies. As for what I'm looking for, there are a lot of things I desire in a good college, but the basics are a nice suburban campus, prestige is a factor, good political science program/pre-med track. That's about it really.

My number one choice is UVA, I just want to apply to some others that I can have as safeties. I'll also apply to UPenn probably, but I don't consider that a safety. Anyone else care to chance me for UVA?

Bump. There are a lot of views, 115 of them, can anyone else offer some feedback?

Last time I bump this thread, I promise. I just want some more thoughts, please leave some comments. :)

I think you're in at Virginia. I don't know what to recommend as safeties...William and Mary? A little more like a match, but still should have no problem getting in. You'll also be competitive at Penn, though that's less certain since it's private.

I applied to William and Mary last year and got in, but after seriously thinking about the pros and cons I decided not to attend. My heart is really set on UVA. Thanks for the reply. :)
