-Duke Also, my aunt is REALLY high up at Duke and could write me a sparkling recommendation.
-UVA
-Vanderbilt
-University of Maryland
-George Washington University
-NC State Could I get a full ride from the Parks scholarship (am I top 40 of approximately 4000 enrolled)?

Duke - Reach
UVA - Safety
Vandy - Match
Maryland - Safety
GWU - Match
NCSU - Safety

Duke/Vanderbilt: Reach
If your school ranks then being out of the top 10% will hurt.
Also why is “college style gpa(out of 4.0)” different from the “unweighted” gpa? Unweighted GPA is also out of 4.0

The college style has a 90-93 as an A-, 85-90 as a B+, ect. My high school uses a 7 point scale, so an 85-92 is a B, and there are no minuses or pluses. Probably should have explained that.

Duke ED is your best bet considering that they need to fill a certain number of NC kids so its easier to get in from there. Also you have the hook at duke from your aunt.

Duke - Low Reach(ED+Your aunt)
UVA - Safety
Vanderbilt - Match/high Match
UMaryland - Safety
GWU - Match
NCSU - Safety
Getting into that top 10% will be really beneficial Good luck!

Duke - Reach
UVA- Match
Vanderbilt- Match
University of Maryland- Safety
George Washington University- Low Match
NC State- Safety

UVa is not a safety.

Duke - Reach
UVA- low reach
Vanderbilt- low reach
University of Maryland- Safety
George Washington University- Match
NC State- Safety

match* my bad I didn’t mean to put safety

UVA is not a match. It is extremely hard to get into if you are out of state.

Duke - Low Reach
UVA - Safety
Vanderbilt - Match/high Match
UMaryland - Safety
GWU - Match
NCSU - Safety

UVA is definitely a safety for this applicant. He’s already above the 50-50 ACT and OOS applicants still have a 1 in 3 chance of getting accepted. No way he doesn’t get accepted. @ooohcollege @sevmom

And his GPA for his schedule strength is superb.

Sorry, BamaBaller. UVa is not a safety for this OP.

Duke- high match ( aunt)
UVA-low match
Vanderbilt - match(they love the high ACT scores)
Umaryland - major safety
GWU- low match
NC - safety- not familiar with scholarship sorry
Good luck!

Your grades are fine if you’re in the top 10%.
ACT looks good.
Your activities are really weak, I’m surprised no one has said that.
Duke, UVA, Vandy are all low-mid reaches. the rest you should get into

-Duke: low reach
-UVA: low match
-Vanderbilt: match
-University of Maryland: high match
-George Washington University: High match
-NC State: High macth

UVA can never be a safety. The best case scenerio is being a match to a person with very high test scores and is an Instate Applicant. You are doing a disservice to OP by trying to convince him it is a safety.

I’m pretty new to College Confidential, and I do not know these colleges very well, but I still think that you are very very great academic-wise as well as athletic-wise. More volunteer hours would help I think, but I’m sure you’ve got that covered. Keep up the amazing work, and I’m sure that wherever you go, you will do great!
