I’m actually a junior this year. Some of these stats are just predictions but I think they’re pretty realistic/reasonable according to my current PSAT scores, grades, situation, etc. Please chance me nonetheless!
-I live in Washington state
-UW GPA: 3.7
-SAT: 2100/2400
-If it matters, I plan to take 2 SAT II tests
-Full IB Student
-Took all honors for 9th and 10th grade
-5 years of Spanish (took Spanish in 8th grade = high school credit)
-5 years of Math (took Algebra 2 in 8th grade = high school credit)
-4 years of History
-4 years of Literature
-4 years of Science (3 years of biology)
-Random/Required electives (computer science, choir, TOK, IB HL Art)
Extracurriculars:
-2 years of a club where we help students find opportunities (secretary in 11th grade, president in 12th grade)
-2 years of kendo
-2 years of volunteering at an animal shelter
Hobbies:
-Photography (4 years)
-Filmmaking (2 years)
-Learning Japanese by myself (2.5 years)
Yes, my extracurriculars aren’t impressive but they’re all important to me. So, what do you think? Thanks!
Your looking good for Udub. If you raise your SAT a bit, you’ll be looking solid for at least one the two UCs listed. Your folks prepared to pay OOS tuition?
Thanks for the chance! Yeah, my parents are willing to pay for any good school.
I would work on getting that SAT to be a 2100+. The UCs are allowing a greater percentage of OOS of late, so if finances are in order, this might bode well for you.
UDub-Match
UCLA-Low Reach
UCB-Match
USC-Match/High Match
Honestly, you have a nice shot at your list so far. I’d really try to develop some of your extra curriculars. You still have 2 years in high school left, try to get even more involved in a certain activity. Find a passion somewhere, and put your time into that. It’s not only good for you and it’s fun, but it looks great on applications.!
Chance back??

@Mchichioco , as much as I am on the side of UCLA (for the obvious reason!) but it is not fair to UCB to be considered a mere “match” whereas you assessed UCLA to be “low reach”.
My assessment for all 3 Cal schools is: high-match/match if OP could raise up UW GPA to 3.8 and SAT to 2200.
@uclaparent9
Oh I’m so sorry. Re reading it now, I mistook UCB and read it as UCSB. I’m sorry. Yeah that makes sense. Sorry for the confusion.
You’re pretty set for UDubb but your GPA is well under average for UCLA and UCB. If you could bring up your SAT to a 2200+ that would help a bit.
