Chance me for Wesleyan!

Greetings, CC-ers . . . Wes is my reach school, and I’m probably applying ED next fall. I’ve got a bit of a weird application in terms of SAT/GPA balance, obvious weaknesses and skills, etc, so I’ll be interested to hear what you guys think.

SAT: I took the old one - 2260 (790 CR, 680 M, 790 W). They say because it’s test optional, you shouldn’t send your scores unless they’re exceptional; my CR and W are above Wes’s 75%, but my M is below their 25%. Hmm . . .

GPA: Hopefully 3.6 by the end of this year (11th grade), with a strong upwards trend. Worst comes to worst, 3.5. I have mainly As, but some lower grades in math and chemistry. My school doesn’t rank, but if they did I probably wouldn’t be in the top 10%. I will have taken (or be in the process of taking) 8 APs, almost all in the humanities.

ECs: I’ve received national recognition for creative writing, been published in a few teen literary magazines, etc. I love writing, and it’s basically what I want to do with my life, so my essays and whatnot will probably revolve around it.

Other stuff I should mention: I haven’t taken Calc, despite being “on track” for it - next year, I’ll be taking Honors Precalc. Apart from that, I’ve met Wes’s 2 other “recommendations” (4 years of one language and all the core sciences). I’m also as unhooked as unhooked can be (white gal from an overrepresented state, need FA).

So . . . thoughts?

I would submit the scores as your reading and writing are so high and that reinforces your passion for creative writing. And because your gpa is good but not great, it will help to have those near perfect CR and W scores in your folder.
