I'm currently a junior and will most likely be applying ED. Here's my stats:

Rank: 20/775
GPA: 4.4 (weighted so doesn't mean much, haven't gotten unweighted yet)
ACT: 32 (first time without studying, can probably get it up a few)
SAT: Haven't taken yet, PSAT projected a 2100 but that doesn't mean much
ECs: By graduation, I'll have 4 years of cross country (most likely a captain this coming year), 3 years of track, two years of Spanish Honors Society, and most likely a member of the National Honors Society.
Volunteering: As of now... none. Looking into volunteering at a homeless shelter or elderly home though. This is probably my weakest part.
Classes: I take all honors classes except for science
APs: Will have taken test for U.S. history, Stats, Lit., Comp., Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Physics, Spanish Lang., and Calc.

Chance me? Thanks in advance.

Stats are all good but I don’t see much in your ECs. Unless you are very passionate about your running and Spanish honors society, you don’t really have much going there. Try to get more involved in your ECs, because they aren’t very impressive at the moment. Also, volunteering is not a necessity at all. If you volunteer in something you are interested in, go for it, but don’t spend hours helping out at a hospital just because you think it will look good.

Yeah I’ve been thinking my ECs don’t look like much on paper, but cross country is actually a pretty big/important part of my life. It doesn’t look like much, but it means 2-3 hours a day/7 days a week/6 months a year. I’ve also been really involved in it, and being a captain of a 100 guy team should look pretty good leadership-wise.

Bump! Any other suggestions, criticisms, ideas?

dude maybe you should take up a more academic businessish EC like DECA or FBLA
but other than that your stats are pretty good

Yeah that’s one thing I was worrying about, not showing enough interest in business. Problem is, our school has no business clubs anymore because they weren’t successful in the past. Any ideas on how I can show my interest in business?

Seek out opportunities nearby at a community college or other organization if your school does not offer a club. That will not be a good enough reason for not having a business ec - especially compared to others who will have held leadership positions in biz clubs.
