Bro you posted an identical chance thread a few weeks ago and have gotten more than your fair share of replies! Absolutely nothing has changed in your resume.

BTW, OP, isn’t it tiring to read that you’re a qualified candidate, but that highly selective schools have a surplus of qualified candidates, and that in the end, it is a bit of a crapshoot?

Its not an identical chance thread if Im asking to be chanced for completely different schools.
I was just curious as to my chances on getting into HYP which I hear is quite different from tier 2 schools like Duke and UPenn which I asked about in my other chance thread.

@Bob, No, in fact I do not believe that Im even a qualified candidate for schools like HYP, which is why I started this chance thread in the first place.

^It’s amazing how much people factor CCers’ opinions into their real-life decisions sigh
This sect of the forum really should be just for curious people who won’t get too offended or take the advice overly-seriously.

Princeton and Yale are both high reaches for you in my view (less than 10%). EC’s are weak for those schools as is 710 CR, plus nothing other than your math test scores stands out on your application. I think you would have a much better chance applying ED at Duke or Penn.

Thank you muckdogs for actually chancing me and telling me what I wanted to know.

The whole reason I made this thread was because I am in a dilemma as whether to ED UPenn or take my chances and EA to HYP. I just wanted to hear people’s opinions on this.

@smarty, I would not EA to HYP if everyone on here says that I would prolly not get in. Also, how can you say that I have an average shot at ALL of them? Do you really mean that I have the same chance at UPenn as I do at Yale or Princeton?

How do you have an 8.0 weighted GPA? What system does your school use?

Also, pretty much all high-level schools are reaches for everyone; outside of Harvard and Stanford, it all just becomes luck of the draw. You are not a standout, but rather an excellent student with good ECs. Just like every other competitive applicant. Apply to the highest reasonable school, and hope.

We use a system where you get 0.08 added for each sem of AP classes, and 0.04 added for each sem of honors classes. So , with taking a bunch of extra dual enrollment and online courses , I was able to get an 8.0 . Im from Florida; every school in our county uses the same policy, and we have one of the biggest counties in the nation, Hillsborough.

I’d do a Penn ED. You seem to lack a bit in leadership and EC’s as people have mentioned. Perhaps start a club this fall? I don’t know how much that will help. As of right now, your chances will really depend on your teacher recs and essays. With extremely strong recs and a very unique essay that HYP values, you’ll maybe get a 20% chance.

Well, that is probably because school like HYP and MIT and Stanford are tier 1 schools, which would be significantly harder than schools like Duke and UPenn, so thats why they would be considered tier 2 schools.
