Chance me for Yale SCEA

I am so jealous of your stats omg. You should be good! Of course I can’t say you’re a shoo in because no one is, ut you are definitely a prime candidate!
Could you chance me back?

Is the Senator you are going to intern with from your state? If so, Mikulski or Cardin?

Chanced you back spiritkoi, thanks! @Debater1996, I am actually interning for the Senator from my home state, as i only moved to Maryland 5 years ago. Are you interning on the hill as well this summer? Any other opinions are appreciated, Ill make sure to keep this updated with any new information about my application!

I’m not. I’m a huge political nerd, so my interest was piqued, which is why I asked. I do actually want to know (a bit because of jealousy), but if you don’t want to publicly share, I fully understand.

Also, I should say that you have an impressive resume, and will be competitive wherever you apply. It’s certainly not assured, but hell, I think that you deserve it. You’re a definite match for both UVa and U Michigan. I was accepted to UVa this year with similar stats but worse extracurriculars.

Thanks so much! Ill PM you which Senator  All opinions are appreciated and I do chance back!

A fellow forensicator? I feel like we should be best friends!
Maybe you should take your SAT soon if not already- your ACT score is amazing but I read that for eastern schools, SAT is preferable!
Congrats for semis at nats- good luck for this year! I know a lot of congress kids get into Yale. Your resume tells a story, as do you. You have everything going for you!
Some legacy kids in my school didn’t get in :’( I honestly think your passion is your strongest point. Just make is a little more clear- I see you put time into debate and the like but I don’t see why you love it (I think we’re the same person I love IR and debate)
Keep doing what you are- don’t forget to be a real person and enjoy high school! Just keep swimming my friend and I know which ever college you get into will be lucky to have you.
Princeton Woodrow Wilson school is actually the bomb. If we’re anything alike (and I seriously think we are), it’s def a good choice.
Good luck with everything!
Stanford- do something with that AP Comp ! (essays too)
Georgetown- match because of your dedication to speech/debate
Princeton- def worth looking at :D!

Thanks a lot @strugglebus2k15‌ ! I love debate, Model UN, and student government because public service and international relations are my main passions, something that I hope to convey through my essays.
I chance back!

I strongly believe you’ll get into any schools even though no one can be sure. I’m more than reasonably certain, it’s hard to imagine better qualifications.
I, on the other hand, am not so sure of myself.

Thanks a lot! I chanced you back. I have signed up for another AP (last minute), so now I am taking AP Lit, AP French, AP US History, and AP Physics B. Im hoping adding a science AP will make my application more multi faceted and dimensional by demonstrating proficiency in the hard sciences as well. I am also signed up for the US History SAT 2, and will be taking the French SAT 2 as well (in June). Second semester junior year is not going AS well as I would like, but my grades are still holding. Im forecasting a slight drop in my GPA to around 3.79 or so. My school is really difficult and highly ranked and I’m hoping that my counselor rec will reveal that my grades are still competitive. Any thoughts/more chances?

You seem like you’ve got thing under control, If i were you, i’d just make sure essays are strong - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1639715-chances-for-stanford-rea-will-chance-back.html#latest</a> chance me please?

Updates on Model UN:
Model UN has always been my biggest extracurricular commitment, but recently I have put more and more effort into transforming the club and really leaving an impact on my school’s program. Since I have been elected secretary general, we have attended two conferences and my school won best small delegation and outstanding small delegation. In addition, I won my first gavel (best delegate award) at the most recent one. When it comes to writing about an extracurricular activity, I really want to talk about my impact on the Model UN club and how I transformed the activity from a peripheral extracurricular into a competitive and successful program. Is Model UN too standard of an activity to explain further in my common app? Should I use Debate because I have national awards? Or the internship because it’s potentially more unique? Any thoughts are welcome!

I don’t think you could make your resume any better. Therefore, out of the people who have a shot at the ivies, you have probably as high as humanely possible to get in (they are still unpredictable no matter how you slice it). I mean, you even have a hook. Focus on essays and just let destiny take its place.

Chance back? (ik i have problems with ecs and clubs)
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1642817-another-regular-asian-please-chance-i-ll-chance-back-p1.html</a></p>

you’re very qualified!! you’re too good for public places like Michigan and Virginia don’t bother applying to them, I suggest you look at other places such as UChicago, Northwestern, Dartmouth, etc.

You will probably get a likely letter. I think you are in. You are the perfect applicant, although the 3.84 might seem pretty low considering schools like Yale, Princeton, and Stanford tend to only consider 3.9+, you’re amazing EC’s (my god they are truly amazing), and hooks at Yale will get you in. Do not worry about your passion, it is shown immensely. You will be one of those kids who end up getting accepted into like 8 out of the top 10 schools, just sayin…

i think you have as good a chance as most people at these schools but if there would be one thing holding you back it would be your gpa. … as the poster above said your gpa is low for top notch schools, especially for a white who’s not getting in for athletics.

Wow. Really nice stats! You are definitely competitive for these schools, and even though you have a kinda low GPA, your legacy and ECs will probably carry you.

Thanks guys! Ill chance you all back ASAP. Today I was re-elected to my fourth term as Honor Board Rep, super excited to be able to participate in one of my favorite activities for all four years!! Ill post any more updates regarding my position in the Newspaper in the coming days!

Update: I have been selected as News Editor! Four years of dedicated writing for the school paper has paid off and now I get to be creative and direct the section I’ve spent so much time contributing to! My extracurricular explanation now reads:
*School Newspaper - 3 year staff writer for the school newspaper and current ** News Editor **. I have written in 13 of the 15 editions that have been published since september of my freshman year. I have been featured on the front page 3 times. 3 hours a week, 9-12th grades

Hey guys! I just had a quick question about my profile: Several people, including my parents, have said that I’m stretching myself thin to the point where my application doesn’t seem genuine. I take issue with this as I greatly enjoy and thoroughly participate in all my activities, but I do agree that News Editor, Head of Model UN, and Student Government rep alongside my Debate, Squash, and Community Service can seem like too much leadership to the point where its not focused. Although I am very sure of my involvement in these activities, I am worried that colleges will see me as stretched thin. Opinions? I will chance back!

When looking at schools that aren’t Ivys, your legacy will probably hurt you. They will probably see privilege. But when applying to Yale, if say you have a very good shot. You are an impressive candidate and have obviously worked tremendously hard. Yale is still a reach, as it is for everyone, but you are a solid candidate. Just make sure your personality shows through your essay.
