Do you think it will cause me to get eliminated by the first wave of rejections? Or is it not that bad?

Lol! XD This is so funny, but I have almost the exact same resume as you, except I play viola, and I do art instead of internship. If you get in, then there's a good chance I will too, so I'm rooting for ya! :D

tag..curious what will happen

I've reached the end of my rope, still studying for SAT Physics and retaking Chem. Its my only Ivy, but still giving it a shot.

take ur tests and apply -- who knows, you could probably get in, but if you don't, at least it's not cuz u haven't tried

True, but its so iffy but then discouraging

My cons
3.57 GPA, the real killer
24/282- not the usual to Harvard

Pros-
2240 SAT, 780 M2, (hoping for high scores in Chem, Physics)
Speak/read 6 languages
Good recs and essay, fair ECs

So its really hard to tell

i prob wud not apply at this point. it is not worth it because of the extra sat II. it is already nearly impossible to get in, so you dont want to waste ur time/money/energy applying. with your record you should apply somewhere like brown/dartmouth which does not require 3 sat 2's.

you definitely have a chance. i see no reason for not applying if you like harvard, cause you have no chance of going if you don't apply. Heart of Darkness is a neat book by the way.

If you don't mind me asking, can you tell me exactly why you think I have a chance, I still have SAT IIs to take, so any cold truth would be helpful right now to make the right choices.

I really love Heart of Darkness, but it turns out my essay was the number one essay not to write in a college essay book. So I wrote about how I have loved problems solving since I was small, and how it will help me when/if I become a doctor.

you have a chance because anyone with ur stats has a chance. you can apply to other equally good/better(!!) schools with your stats and your 2 SATIIs. like MIT or Yale or something. if there's no particular reason why you like harvard, then by all means apply but also apply to other schools.

I guess you're right, but its too late to apply anywhere else.
In fact, the factor that made me definitely want to apply to Harvard is their new financial program.

I honestly believe you will not get in

thanks for being honest :)

Just a question for all of you,

Hypothetically, lets say my SAT II scores were like this

780 m2, 800 Chem and 770 Literature

How much of a plus is this for me, looking at my other info?

The reason I ask is because I still have a chance to this January.

Thanks guys

we could all chance you fifteen million times and give you are reasons, but our opinions do not count! it the admissions officers who count. you have just as good a chance as everyone else.

I am not sure about the Harvard chances; those guys are pretty crazy and sometimes it is just about luck.

Another suggestion is that if you are going for a pre-med, I would say pick a university at which you can maintain a high gpa and have top-notch studies. Harvard will give you top-notch education, but you may not do so well and end up not getting in to med school.

I realized that but I also want to major in political science. I know that won't be easy at Harvard, but it is also a passion of mine.

Med schools do look at everyone as of they went to the same University, but I think I am willing to take on the hard work so I can experience it, from what alums tell me, Harvard is definitely a worth while experience.

sure it is worth while....but just keep an open mind and think about the pros and cons. And unless you are like filthy rich, you will most likely be on a huge debt by the end of your undergrad and medical school will just make it worse. But yeah of course im just being a little pessimistic because i like to see the negatives first lol. but yeah if you think you can do it go for it; you got a decent chance.

I am actually hoping that if I do get into Harvard (lots of optimism here), that it would be one of my cheaper choices because of their new tuition plans. I also got accepted to the University of Pittsburgh and its ranked around 4th, before UCLA for medical research and I think its very telling of the premed education quality there. So, I am keeping my options open, but I still feel that if I ever do get that acceptance letter, its hands down Harvard for me. But, we will see.
